I made a new little friend for my crane in Born from the Hand. This was folded with a 6×6mm piece of paper, with tweezers and pins, resulting in a crane with wings 2.5mm long. As I hold my creation, I feel like a God; I am the creator; I’ve created a life form so sharp and vulnerable in comparison to my hand. We can only understand size, fragility and significance when we compare two things. When we think, for example, how big the world is, we’re like tiny specks of sand, or even atoms, to the eyes of a God holding the earth in his palm. It took 30 shots before getting one which was somewhat satisfying. This is Teeny. Teeny felt safer in the palm of my hand then sitting down in the little studio setting I had set up so Teeny got photographed in the palm of my hand. I only wanted 4 chicks but if I did not take Teeny he would be left all alone. Teeny is very tiny and most people would not want to take a runt home. Teeny is my favorite one of the group even though he is so fragile. All photographs and artworks in this portfolio are copyrighted and owned by the artist, Cassie Peters. This little flower was less than a half inch in size, and almost flat to the ground. It was so small, I never actually noticed the dew until I brought the flower up on my computer.
My origami calendar I hope people aren’t tired of my origami; but I needed to do this before the flower dies; my mom brought some flowers back from a wedding two weekends ago, and when I saw this particular flower, I really wanted to create this image because the centre of this flower looked like a field. The folded peacock is comprised of two piece of paper: one for the body, the other for the tail. The body is made from a 6×6mm paper, and the tail I faned out of a circle about 1cm in diameter which I cut a slit through. The peacock walks through a field of colour and gets pollen on itself; and that is how the peacock got its color! The biggest challenge came in the smallest size, and it doesn’t take size to love and treasure something. Folded this one out of a 3×3mm piece of trace paper. My origami calendar / / Ever since I saw mobii’s Origami Penguin Tee shirt, I’ve wanted to give it a go myself. The problem was I was too busy at the time, and I could not think of a creative scenario for it. I finally thought of one, and started folding from a 7×7mm piece of paper using tweezers, but by the time I was finished, I realized it was too tiny to create the scenario I wanted :P. I’m going to do bigger one later. I’ve decided to show this one anyways because I think it’s cute. It’s just taken in my hand hand; nothing new, but in black and white the lines in my hand looks like a snowstorm Taken with an Olympus FE-340. Mother hens lay their eggs in flowers, and when the chicks hatch, their features collects pollen. As the chicks enter adulthood they lose the pollen in their feathers – when they are white they are chickens! Okay that’s not true; that idea just came up randomly :P I know it’s been a long while since I’ve uploaded anything; I’m still pretty occupied, but we recently got these flowers in the apartment and I wanted to do something new with them before they die. (Same story goes for my Little White Peacock in a Field of Color) The chicken was folded from a 15×15mm piece of paper. Various fungi, moss, lichen, etc. growing in large patches along Buck Creek Road, Macon County, NC. These patches are dispersed among large clumps of Reindeer Moss. Totally amazing but you have to get “real close” to the ground to see this landscape.
