PhD student working hard procrastinating has produced this. Though, actually, at the rate of one article a fortnight. Just the same, these are meant to be easy to understand, avoiding a whole lot of technical stuff, and not getting (too) deep. For some in my Watchlist, you mightn’t be much interested in this; others, I hope it’ll help. “How to take photos” / Genres I’m familiar with, and other relevant articles / How to take photos “How to use an SLR” / Just as the name says / How to use an SLR

  • Trying my hand at creating a fire effect on Photoshop before I got my computer art pad. Sorry for the small version, it got lost with a few of my other pieces that were on my old computer that unlovingly shuffled off it’s mortal coil. Photoshop / 2006

  • I was on a little bit of a kick of using the fire technique that I taught myself on Photoshop without the use of a computer art tablet. Again, sorry for it being so small. Photoshop / 2006

Both groups look like great resources for t-shirt designers and should be interesting and fun! Natalie Tyler already posted a great journal about this group, but I thought it could use some more advertising. • Not having the patience to wait until I had found one of the cameras recommended by Jules for TTV I decided to haul out an old Brownie Six-20 Model C and have a shot with it. The tiny viewfinder means that I will never be able to pint these shots but it has still been fun. The tiny viewfinder also means I am now cross-eyed and slightly deranged. Taken with a Canon 300D (not using the macro function) and a Brownie six-20 Camera Model C

When I want a smooth glossy finish on a painting I use acrylic mediums. / I like to use these pouring mediums best, Self-Leveling Gel and Clear Tar Gel. The Self-leveling is my favorite. I find that if you spray your surface with alcohol before pouring your work will avoid most bubbles. You can do this between layers while each layer is wet to keep your work mostly bubble free. The Clear Tar Gel and Self-Leveling Gel works best with water added if you are pouring in a dry. You probably will not need to add water in wet cooler climates. Its best to pour a few thin layers after each layer dries. These Gels dry clear. Pour slowly and have your work angled slightly.

Wot dat? Yes, I’ve heard about the rule of thirds but someone commented on Red Bubble “let your eye be your guide”. I don’t dismiss the rule of thirds… rather, I suspect it’s probably a pretty handy rule. Nonetheless, I’m a bit suspicious of rules. I went to a Catholic school. Nuff said. My English teacher (creative writing) said, “You must know and understand the rules (of grammar) before you are qualified to break them”. Yeah, I guess he had a point there.

As some of you may have noticed there is a new button on redbubble called "Buy Gifts" where you can shop on redbubble for these products Framed Prints, T- Shirts, Calendars and Canvas Prints if you have tagged your work then you can use this new search box (see image below) to get the small product previews for you images in a snap. If you are wanting to use other product options please see my first tutorial on this subject TUTORIAL:Using Small Product Preview / / (Click the image above if you need to see it larger) / NOTE If you have not tagged your work and plan on using this method I recomend you add the appropriate tags to your work first as it may take 20-30 minutes for the tags to work in the search. To learn more about Tagging your work see this Tutorial Using tags on Redbubble / EXAMPLE My images are tagged with my username _envelope150 so I can enter “envelope150” into the search box and select the product type ( Framed Prints, T- Shirts, Calendars and Canvas Prints) once I hit the search button it will return all my images in the framed product version. I can be even more specific to find the exact image I am looking for by adding another tag to the search like Flora which will only show my Flower images in the framed product version. / Also another good EXAMPLE is I have tagged the works that have been featured by a group with the tag “Featured” so by searching my username with the word featured will display all my featured works in the framed version or what ever I choose. / See The Results of that search Here / Once the image is on the page you can then right click the image (for single button mice hold the control key ‘CTRL’ and click) and select the option that applies to your browser. See more about Creating Links Etc…on redbubble if you are not sure how to do this. / If you would like to change some of the options for the images like T-Shirt color or style or even matte and frame colors see my original post on Using Small Product Preview Here. / BONUS TIP: / You can link the small previews to a larger ones by chaging the pixelsize:170×180 to pixelsize:875×440 / EXAMPLE: / This Code / !http://images-1.redbubble.net/img/art/backgroundcolor:ffffff/framecolor:cherry/framestyle:flat30/mattecolor:black/pixelsize:170×180/product:framed-print/size:medium/view:preview/3598594-3-southern-caracara.jpg!:http://images-1.redbubble.net/img/art/backgroundcolor:ffffff/framecolor:cherry/framestyle:flat30/mattecolor:black/pixelsize:875×440/product:framed-print/size:medium/view:preview/3598594-3-southern-caracara.jpg / Will do this / I do not know how long redbubble plans on keeping this new search box available to us and our shoppers but I sure hope it stays around and my fingers are crossed that more products will be added to the list soon. / Hope you find it useful / Happy Bubbling / Dan Need More Help? / Chat with me on Skype User Name / envelope150 Get the Firefox and Internet Explorer Tool bar for Redbubble Here / See more info See all my How-to’s Here Includes “Framed image on Bubblesite home page”, “Adding Calendars to your bubblesite”, “feedjit Live Traffic Feed”, “Using tags on Redbubble”, “Add a visitor counter to your bubblesite or profile page” and More Please don’t Copy and paste this written work as that would really hurt my feelings :) / you can copy the link below and paste it if you would like to share with others on Redbubble / "Using Small Product Previews II":http://www.redbubble.com/people/envelope150/journal/4148157-tutorial-using-small-product-preview-ii / or on the web / <a href="http://www.redbubble.com/people/envelope150/journal/4148157-tutorial-using-small-product-preview-ii">Using Small Product Previews II</a> / /
