The early morning sunlight softly lights up the bark from a Melaleuca tree creating a wonderful abstract work of art! Macro photography from the bark of a tea-tree!
Best Viewed Large At low tide the Tilligerry foreshore is a wonderful place to explore, with it’s broad sand flats, rock platforms and pools. At high tide on a hot day, it’s a cooling spot for a swim; the best place to take dip is under one of the many Tea Trees which overhang the water along the boardwalk between Mallabula and Tanilba Bay. /
This is a shot of the lagoon at Greenpatch, Booderee National Park, Jervis Bay. I very rarely do shots during the day but this is one of those landscapes where strong light worked an advantage in bringing out the colours. The colour of the lagoon is from the tannin that leaches into the water from all the native tea tree bushes that line the creek as it empties into it. Combine that with shallow water and fine light sand and it really brings out the colour. Canon 30D / Tv: 1/125 / Av: f/8 / ISO: 100 / FL: 16mm

Mt Stuart, Townsville, North Queensland, Australia—Sep. 2007 These hills are usually brown, or simply black from fire—this image was taken in a ‘wet’ year. Six months earlier, a month of solid cyclonic deluge broke the drought and grew grass three feet high, in a verdant blanket of green. This savannah landscape features kangaroo grass and broad-leafed tea tree Melaleuca viridiflora which apparently indicates poor drainage of the soil perhaps because of underlying rock (no I don’t know all this, I read the sign). This image was meant to be a throw-away, just a reminder to go back and photograph the place when a storm wasn’t just about to drench me … but I really like it. I guess snapping-on-the-run is a good way to catch that atmosphere. :)
The beautiful Native Tea tree. / /
Leptospermum – Tea Tree, a genus of evergreen shrubs or small trees of the myrtle family, Australian native. Leptospermum laevigatum – Coastal Tea Tree grows naturally among sand dunes and is quite bushy. Flowers in spring with a profusion of white flowers, followed by hard small seed heads. /
Thought I would share with you the flowers of the Melaleuca tree, or commonly know as the tea-tree. I also like to call it the Paperbark tree, which is where I capture a lot of my macro bark photos. I’ve been waiting for one to flower so I could share it with you. Macro shot to follow! We’ve had a lot of rain the past month and everything is green and we’ve had some early blooming with some of the native plants. The bee will give you an idea of the size of the small flowers! A hoard of blue painted shipping pallets, huddle a safe distance behind their barbed wire fence, stacked carefully beneath a massive melaleuca ti tree. Brunswick, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
A lovely creek with walkways around it, there are often waterlillies flowering and ducks landing in the water. Very nice place in the suburbs for families, there is also a play area.

Taken at Teatree Beach on my last holiday to Noosa. Went in around April and a few low pressures developed and got some good surf. Biggest mistake was getting photos after i surfed, because I would surf for around 4 hours then it wouldn’t be as perfect as when i first arrived.
