  • Seasons
    by Karin Taylor

    US$5.22–US$119.32

/ Following are the lyrics to the song Turn, Turn, Turn This group was a huge influence on me as a little girl. I adored Judith Durham and her beautiful voice and spirit. I seemed to identify with her, and they were the first group I remember loving….other songs I loved from The Seekers which would take me into a beautiful place, “I’ll Never Find Another You”, “A World of Our Own”, “The Carnival Is Over”, “Morningtown Ride”, “Georgy Girl” ),and “Emerald City” Turn! Turn! Turn! / originally written by Pete Seeger / The Byrds (cover by The Seekers later) To everything (turn, turn, turn) / There is a season (turn, turn, turn) / And a time for every purpose, under heaven A time to be born, a time to die / A time to plant, a time to reap / A time to kill, a time to heal / A time to laugh, a time to weep To everything (turn, turn, turn) / There is a season (turn, turn, turn) / And a time for every purpose, under heaven A time to build up,a time to break down / A time to dance, a time to mourn / A time to cast away stones, a time to gather stones together To everything (turn, turn, turn) / There is a season (turn, turn, turn) / And a time for every purpose, under heaven A time of love, a time of hate / A time of war, a time of peace / A time you may embrace, a time to refrain from embracing To everything (turn, turn, turn) / There is a season (turn, turn, turn) / And a time for every purpose, under heaven A time to gain, a time to lose / A time to rend, a time to sew / A time to love, a time to hate / A time for peace, I swear its not too late ‘Inspiration Series’ card by Karin Taylor “Seasons” is a mixed media production on thick water colour paper using ink pastel acrylic charcoal and texta, this portrayal is slightly different from the original piece in that I have added a blue background and highlights digitally. I was going to leave ‘Seasons’ open to your own interpretation, but painting this pic brought back memories of ‘The Seekers’ singing ‘There is a Season….turn, turn, turn…’. If you look closely, you can see the handwritten bible verse in tiny writing around the heads of the three :D Instead of leaving it open for interpretation, as I’m submitting this to The Healing Journey forum for a music/art competition, I will try to explain what the image depicts. This is my family and I am the hands, although the hands also represent God. The boat is a metaphor for our journey through life, and the waters are somewhat turbulent beneath, my family is being supported by myself at great cost sometimes to me personally and God is also supporting…if you like, imagine it is God’s hands super-imposed over my hands, so that I have strength to do what I am called to do, imparting a protective and nurturing boundary around my beautiful family…..making home a sanctuary, and a safe place, it is a labour of love and the weight of carrying and nurturing can be extremely heavy sometimes, but also very rewarding. There is my daughter, my son, and my husband in the boat…and the symbol of the greek cross on the vessel indicates that my family belong to Christ, and we will be Conquerors in this life and in the next, as we pass through all of life’s testing and difficulty, we will be made stronger and have our characters’ hewn and shaped, and wisdom will come as a result. Bonded together through adversity, trial, separation and togetherness, we will learn how to work together as a team to achieve harmony, joy and satisfaction…we will support one another when life’s journey becomes all too hard and we want to give up…then there will be one of us to support the one who is down….and this will be reciprocated later when the other is down….. instead of destroying one another, we will build each other up, and make each other stronger for the fight, for the journey….we will encourage one another all the more when we are failing and losing sight of our goals….we will not give up on one another…and even if the world is not interested in us, we will be interested in one another, and remember one another in prayer and thought and spirit and heart. We will cheer one another one to be courageous and to persevere, no matter life’s challenges. And through each of the seasons of life, birth, death, life, healing, laughing, dancing, moving, scattering, gathering, giving up, giving voice, mending, loving, hating, mourning…..we will stick together and support one another. The symbol is The Greek Cross which is complemented with the first and last letters of the Greek name for Jesus (IC), the first and last letters of the Greek word for Christ (XC) and the Greek word for Conqueror (NIKA). The short bars above the letters indicate that they are abbreviations. ‘There is a time for everything, / and a season for every activity under heaven: / a time to be born and a time to die, / a time to plant and a time to uproot, / a time to kill and a time to heal, / a time to tear down and a time to build, / a time to weep and a time to laugh, / a time to mourn and a time to dance, / a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, / a time to embrace and a time to refrain, / a time to search and a time to give up, / a time to keep and a time to throw away, / a time to tear and a time to mend, / a time to be silent and a time to speak, / a time to love and a time to hate, / a time for war and a time for peace. – Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

  • WEEPING WILLOW
    by DALE CRUM

    US$5.65–US$129.20

By: DALE CRUM Oh, if humans only knew what trees know. / History has walked--loved-and killed / Around them-under them-and in them / Oh, if we could plug headphones into a knot / Oh, if we could sit in their shade and listen—not talk / Oh, how feeble and foolish is this creature called man / They do whisper in the quiet morning breeze / They do show the brevity of man in autumn / In the transition from life unto death / The glory and splendor of that next life / For in their passing, the leaves become most radiant / They raise their voices in hues of flame and passion / Then sling them to the whim of the winter winds / Burial mounds do gather beneath their feet / Man only sees the toil of the raking / By storm do the trees warn by tapping windows / By beating on roofs / By crashing onto cars / By ripping down the wires of lightening / The trees do not always whisper / Perhaps wisdom would be to listen more closely / That they not be compelled to raise their voices? / DC This one has my own eye in it. I drew the tear in by hand—it was really tricky to make it look real. I created this using only my own original photos. If you love this one please go see another one of my TREE ART PIECES called “WISE LIKE A TREE” / http://www.redbubble.com/people/dalecrum/art/2056938-3-wise-like-a-tree

  • Tear...
    by Antanas

    US$3.99–US$28.50

ABOUT MY EXHIBITION The woks exhibited represent the linkup of two artists, a photographer and a sculptor. Such an attempt to blend two spheres of art is really innovative and a bit unexpected. There had been few who were successful in such an attempt. Both authors, blending their art by the means of the photo art, are the winners. Sculpture, as such, is rather a static art, sometimes “performing” in a specific, sometimes artificial, environment. However, the means of the plastic photography, seemingly, make the sculptures movable, dynamic; they make you feel the sculptures are moving. They become alive, start moving and react both to the environment and the views captured by the photographer. I would like the viewers also note the colour solutions of the photos, aimed at the strengthening of the overall impression of the imagery. The original blend and overlapping of two arts let see the impressive plastic metaphors, giving birth to various associations. / /

  • Barack Obama – Change for America, for the World, for All of Us – The Audacity of Hope On November 4, 2008, Barack Obama defeated John McCain and became the first African American to be elected President of the United States. In his victory speech, delivered before a crowd of hundreds of thousands of his supporters in Grant Park in Chicago, Illonois, Obama proclaimed that “change has come to America.” Born in Hawaii, Obama will be the first U.S. President born outside the contiguous United States. He also will be fifth youngest President at the date of accession and the second since Lincoln whose primary political base is Illinois. This portrait illustrates and epitomizes the audacity of hope. President Obama was sworn in as the 44th President of the United States of America on January 20, 2009. Selected information courtesy of Wikipedia.
