Took this one in Glasgow – separate entrances for boys and girls. I was imagining how young children felt as they entered this scary building and used the angle to capture from a child’s perspective. The clouds added a very ominous look to the scene. Tried this one in B&W – seems to have more impact than the colour version.
For all those of you who are troubled by occasional mislocation of the milk ducts, this helpful kitty will live on your t-shirt as a helpful reminder. He is saving up for a laser pointer. Individual nipple positions may vary… but he’s basically in the right area. Bless him.
It’s never enough to seek God in prayer / With no thoughts of others who are lost in despair. / So teach us, dear God, that the power of prayer / Is made stronger by placing the world in your care. Written by ~ Helen Steiner Rice /

This bamboo we found on vacation at a theme park reminded me of relaxation but also brought thoughts to me of a child we sponsor in Indonesia. For some reason I think of Bamboo as a Global symbol of friendhip and peace and happines, it always makes me feel good and alive. I wanted to create a black and white image which is where my photographic roots are but create something emphasizing the melting pot of the world with the selective coloring.

As a teacher , seeing this boy peeking through the window into the classroom in Vietnam quite broke my heart. Sadly getting enough food for the family and harvesting the rice can be a much higher priority for some families than their children’s education. And who can blame them for that …
Earth Teach Me to Remember / Earth teach me stillness / as the grasses are stilled with light. / Earth teach me suffering / as old stones suffer with memory. / Earth teach me humility / as blossoms are humble with beginning. / Earth Teach me caring / as the mother who secures her young. / Earth teach me courage / as the tree which stands alone. / Earth teach me limitation / as the ant which crawls on the ground. / Earth teach me freedom / as the eagle which soars in the sky. / Earth teach me resignation / as the leaves which die in the fall. / Earth teach me regeneration / as the seed which rises in the spring. / Earth teach me to forget myself / as melted snow forgets its life. / Earth teach me to remember kindness / as dry fields weep in the rain. / Ute, North American /
There are people who are able to take a Spiritual journey of knowledge and understanding on their own. The majority of us need a skillful teacher to direct, encourage and stimulate our awakening. The Teacher that has appeared today brings us wisdom and inspiration, as all good teacher’s should do. She is free from the constraints of her ego and will help us discover deity through the senses of emotions and humility.
As the third ‘Auspicious Symbol’ of Buddhism, the WHEEL (sanskrit-chakra) consists of three basic parts: the hub, the rim, and the spokes (8). Its underlying form is that of a circle, which is recognized across all traditions as a shape that is complete and perfect in itself, qualities which inform the teachings of the Buddha too. / Individually, the rim represents the elements of limitation, the hub is the axis of the world, and the eight spokes denote the Eightfold path set down by Buddha, which leads to the cessation of all suffering. / A further esoteric interpretation makes reference to the three trainings which form an integral part of Buddhist meditative practice, associating each of the three parts of the wheel with one such practice. / The symbolism is: / HUB-training in moral discipline. Through this practice the mind is supprted and stabilized. Thus it is the practice of moral discipline that upholds our meditation, just like supporting axis of the world. / SPOKES-stand for the correct application of wisdom, which cuts off ignorance and ends suffering. / RIM- denotes concentration, which holds the entire meditative practice together, just as the wheel of life is held together by its rim. / The wheel evolved as a symbol of the Buddha’s teachings and as an emblem of the Chakravartin or ‘wheel turner’, identifying the wheel as the Dharmachakra or ‘wheel of law’. The Tibetan term for Dharmachakra literally means “the wheel of transformation”. The wheels swift motion serves as an apt metaphor for the rapid spiritual change engendered by the teachings of Buddha. Hence, Buddha’s first discourse at the Deer Park in Sarnath is known as the first turning of the wheel of dharma. Likewise, his subsequent discourses at Rajgir and Shravasti are known as the second and third turnings of the wheel of dharma.
