Two Asian elephants touch trunks in a moment of friendship. Taken at the St. Louis Zoo. / / Part of my line promoting awareness and raising funds for endangered species globally. Remodernist abstract composition begun by children during a 15 minute painting demonstration I did at the Western Colorado Center for the arts. Kids took turns doing brush strokes over an old blue painting I had kicking around in my studio. As they watched, I started to develop the painting. I talked about my process as I worked. Some adults with the group said that, before the birds, there were dolphins.

I love to watch Carolina Chickadees eating sunflower seeds. They grasp the seed in their little claws and then with a motion akin to a tiny jackhammer, they pound away at it until it’s gone. This chickadee was doing just that when I snapped its picture.
