Web spun from tangled silk of lies / Woven from truth held in disguise / Where trust ensnared, betrayed it dies / No greater thing do I despise / / Web better built from silk of gold / Woven from truth all can behold / Where trust is free, instead of sold / No greater thing when truth is told / / So earn my trust, earn my respect / Tell me not truths that are suspect / For if false truth I do detect / Then trust from you I can’t expect / / This fractal artwork was inspired by an old quotation from Sir Walter Scott about lying that went ‘Oh what a tangled web we weave, When first we practice to deceive’. My biggest pet peave are liars, and always has been. The artwork depicts how a lie can go on to exponentially effect the lives of others to whom the lie is passed. / / The greatest example currently is the war in Iraq, which was started from a lie to the American public by it’s leader that Iraq had stockpiled ‘weapons of mass destruction’ and intended to use them. This one lie has devastated families and ruined economies across the globe. / / The greatest thing I respect in an individual is their ability to be honest, as then I can grant them the trust that all other things in the relationship will bloom from. So always remember this quotation, as well as, another old adage that says ‘The truth shall set you free!’. / / This fractal artwork was created in Apophysis. The original is 6000×6000 pixels at 300 pixels per inch. The fractal gradient was created with ApoMap, a gradient editor commonly used with Apophysis. Because the original is so large and difficult to see over the internet, I have included a couple of detail cutaways below. / / / / / /
