  • Haver (to talk foolishly, to chatter)
    by zendiva

Haver – A poem about foolish chatter at the dinner table

This poem was written by me in March 1989 at the age of 22 in my most prolific poetry-writing period as my mind was constantly stimulated (I was at university). It all dried up when the tide turned and it was energy-out rather than energy-in – I joined the work-force. The poem was inspired by the word “haver”, not commonly used by young twenty-somethings in Sydney in the 1980s. My first and only contact with the word was in a Proclaimers song – remember that band that sang without suppressing their overtly Scottish accent? “I’m on my way, from misery to happines today. Uh huh uh huh uh huh uh huh…..”.

  • Bluebirds have their own language which consists not only of songs and calls but also wing-waves. According to Donald and Lillian Stokes, authors of The Bluebird Book, “It is done . . . as a kind of greeting or attention-getter. The male does it at the nest entrance and on top of the box and sometimes when he has food for the female. Both birds do wing-wave as the other flies overhead or near. And wing-wave is often given when the two land near each other on a perch or at the nest box.” This male Eastern bluebird is doing the characteristic wing-wave as he lands near the nest box.

  • Walking and talking to God as a friend
    by mizterx2000

Everyday i walk i talk to God as if he is next to me and he’s my friend, but then again he is. God is more than just God. Hes our creator…

Everyday i walk i talk to God as if he is next to me and he’s my friend, but then again he is. God is more than just God. Hes our creator, our father, our saivor, and so on.; basically he’s our everything. When i walk i talk to him i ask him how is he doing; because he knows how we are doing. When i walk with him i talk about whats goin on, how was his day , or even how was my day. God is there for you when in need our someone to listen to you problems. Is it weird to be walking and talking looking like your talking to yourself; well no unless if you are talking to your self. When someone says who are you talking to, i say im talking to God. That right there opens up a conversation and maybe a conversion. They say to me is he responding to you . I say yes he does. That right will spark up a debate on God. Is that good yes it is. I am not ashamed to talk about God for he is not ahsamed of me. Everyday i walk with God and talk with God its my way what is your way, and if you dont have a way then i belive you should get a way.
