On our way in to Lake Tahoe I had to come to a screeching halt so I could capture this photo. I had to tromp through snow up to my knees for quite a ways just to get the perfect photo. This photo was taken before the snow storms came! Nikon D80 / Lens 50-200mm

Welcome to Tahoe’s Desolation Wilderness – my family’s favorite place to go for a weekend backpacking trip. This was taken at the summit of Dick’s Peak. Dick’s Peak is a 9,974 ft mountain that rises right at the middle of Desolation Wilderness. Albeit a bit challenging to get to, especially if you decide to take a “short-cut” straight up slabs of rocks, the peak offers some of the best views in the entire wilderness.
