I’ve noticed several times while browsing RB that not everyone utilises the TAG’s very well. When I joined RB I distinctly remember being told to TAG my work effectively in order for it to be visible in searches. I did not TAG as well as I should have and as a result for a few weeks my work was only viewed by those that had stumbled upon it. Of course I browsed around other peoples portfolios and commented frequently on their work. This of course gets you a little interest as I’m sure there is a whole “you look at mine and I will look at yours” thing going on here on RB. But it doesn’t get your work the exposure it should do. Ask yourself – don’t you want everyone possible to be looking at your work? Then TAG people. TAG everything. Colours, shapes, objects, moods, style, locations, artist focal lengths, genre etc – the more you tag the more “searchable” your work is. After correcting all my tags I found a dramatic increase in the number of views my work received. Its worth it believe me. Mel Brackstone wrote a Tag your Work blog a while back. Take a look and while you do take a browse f her work – notice the TAG’s. See – even the Pros do it.

Poppykittens competition ends today(30th) at midnight. / Please make sure all entries are in before that time and any pics that are already entered are properly tagged. Please read the original journal entry from poppykitten for further rules. / Good luck to everyone:-) A competition for you all. As it is coming up for Christmas, I am feeling generous and so I am running a competition for you all. / The title of the comp is “naked photography” now before you all get to excited, what I mean is untouched photographs. / The categories are / 1) Macro / 2) Portrait or people / 3) Abstract (this includes odd camera angles) / 4) Everything else / THE RULES. / They have to be untouched photographs, exactly the same as you took them, no messing with contrast or saturation etc and definitely no Photoshop / You can enter as many categories as you like, but only one entry per category (does this make sense?) / Please tag all entries poppykittencomp and state which category you are entering. / You can add you image to this post or just your profile, but remember to tag them :-)))

hit the streets with my good friend trish yesterday. it was good times. she made some bills for herself, which was great. i try to tell my friends that if they want to come out, that’s fine, but it’s going to be a lot more fun if they make some of their own stuff to post! i put up two of my larger pieces. you can see them from so far away! wheeee! made a couple new prints for later in the week. oh man i’m watching my recording of this week’s monday night RAW. i’m completely obsessed with wrestling. triple h just won a first blood match against william regal. I DID NOT KNOW THAT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN. I COULD NOT HAVE PREDICTED. SRSLY. (*note – wwe = more predictable every day.) i got tickets to RAW this saturday night at the civic center. i would be lying if i said i wasn’t completely friggin’ excited about it. in case you were wondering, joeycat is doing much better. i have to wash his mouth out every day, but it’s fairly quick and easy. i didn’t even have to puree his breakfast this morning! yay joey!

Ok, so I’ve read a lot of Stephen King’s newer stuff, but now I’m reading his old stuff, Pet Sematary if you must ask. It is amazing!!! I’m pretty sure that King is one of the only authors that can scare the pants of people reading!!! I also just saw 1408, and although the movie is very different from the short story, I still enjoyed it (who wouldn’t, John Cusack + Hawaiian Shirt = AMAZING lmao, who doesn’t like John Cusack really?) I like to think that after YEARS of watching scary movies (from Zombies and Vampires to ghosts and puppets, and let us not forget the demon possessed children!) I was pretty brave, but 1408 really scared me, what a rush! Highly recommended! Has anyone read Duma Key yet? is it worth buying? ps, if anyone has a copy of Salem’s Lot or Carrie, and are willing to sell, let me know!

I had been going back and forth for a month or more about doing another pencil illustration. I usually draw them from a photos I’ve shot. But over the past month or so, I just couldn’t find any images in my collection that might work in pencil. I guess last night, the conditions were just right. I found an image that would make a great sketch and I had the time(wow!). All I had to do was sit down and put the pencil on the paper. So I spent a few hours just getting the basic sketch and some shading. It was a lot of fun and I missed it so much. Tonight I’ll spend another hour or so doing some more shading. Maybe I’ll even be able to start bringing out the details as well. I’ll post it here when I’m done so everyone can see…

Yesterday I had a great shoot with a wonderful model, Ashleigh. I had never worked with her before and she told me that she had never posed nude before. I wasn’t sure what to expect but right away we found a comfortable rhythm and it felt like we’d been friends for years. She was quite comfortable with her body and the idea of shooting artistic nudes. She just seemed to get what I was doing and how I shoot. She was such a joy to work with and I don’t think we could have picked a more beautiful morning for a nude shoot. I hope I’ll be able to work with her again soon. I’m brand new here, and I guess I’m off to kind of a good start, right? I mean, my writings tend be really good, so I think you’ll like them. I would totally upload my REAL books, but I have plans for them to be published, so I can’t upload them for public view. Now, if there was a way I could publish and sell on this site, you’d have yourself a deal, but since I can’t, I won’t. Oh well… A girl has here dreams. XD I think I’m a loser. / Anyway, you don’t have to buy or read, or do anything with my art, but I’d appreciate it if you at least took a look. I think there are some things you might like. > Loves / NYASH! / Kaizuki

Hi there members of Victorian Viewfinders and other fellow RedBubblers. Jennifer Craker and I will be spending some time around the Grampians National Park in Victoria, Australia, over the Xmas – New Year holiday period and would love to meet up with other members if they are interested in coming up and tagging along with us on some guided photographic walks. For those who know of the area, Jennifer and I will definately be at Zumsteins and other easily accessable locations around lunchtime on Xmas day for a family BBQ and are also open to meetings and catch ups on other days… We have photographed the area extensively in the past and even ran an ECO Tour business out of the Grampians some years ago, so we can certainly provide advice as to where you might like to go, what to take and what to photograph to get some great images.. I have been working at preparing a booklet called “Grampians Day Walks and Photographic Opportunities” and will be looking at using this time gathering some new images during the xmas break.. The offer is there, so if you would like to tag along and see or photograph some great rocky outcrops, canyons, waterfalls, wild landscapes, sunsets, wildflowers and wildlife, then let us know and we will set something up together.. If we don’t catch up, then have a Merry Xmas and a great New Year. ....................................................... Just a heads up: I am going through my entire profile and officially adding tags. As of late, I have been very lazy about that, and I plan to correct it right now. So, if you see duplicate pics or things switched around, that is why. Also, I am starting to work on a calendar of Glastonbury, England. I hope this year to complete several more calendars compling my European pictures. Stay tuned, its going to happen, I PROMISE :)

Last Friday, I linked to a newly uploaded work on RedBubble and tagged the post ”#newartfriday” on Twitter dot com. For example: “Added black and white #photograph of a #farm near #Interstate-80 in #California to #redbubble – http://tinyurl.com/l6mus9 #newartfriday” profile here Today, I tweeted a few works (not my own) that I recently discovered on RedBubble. Want to try? Simply tag your tweet as #newartfriday (even if it’s your Saturday in Oz).

I decided to browse my favorites and came upon an artist who has only been on this site for 2 months. He has a wonderful piece of which I was so drawn to, I had to stop and stare while making guffaw noises at myself for not doing it first. I have listed it as one of my favorites. I did make a comment that if I had never browsed the favorites of those I have favorited, I would have never seen that piece. Link It must be made known to the current and new artists that without sufficient tags at the end of each piece, those who are not computer savy will have a hard time finding your particular piece. For instance, there are three other people with my name here. However if I tell my customers to use a specific word, they will not only find my piece but all of those who have used that word as well. I will often refer to certain pieces in my writing. Including the ideas that God gives me, He has also blessed many of you here by which I am also inspired and amused. Take a look at the piece, as simple as it is, which has caused such inspiration. Rob 2

Having just attempted to find all my graphic novel pages, I now realise why some of you might have given up in confusion. / The way to find ALL of them is as follows / ( apologies to those of you who, unlike me, already know this): / If you just go to ‘View all art’ and go to Page 12, you only see the first 12 pages. / You need to go to the tags on the left and hit ‘Nemesis’ at the bottom. That will show you all pages I have posted so far. I’ll now attempt to post the remaining 10 pages of Vol 1. / Another source of confusion for me, was going to the group ‘Real Men Wear Tights’ expecting to find the easily but couldn’t find them there either. All I could find was a link back to my profile page. Okay, the art is probably somewhere under ‘Art’ in the group itself, but pardon my obtuseness, because I couldn’t find it there either…what am I doing wrong here? / Apologies for anyone who got even half as confused as I am.

Earlier today I commented on someone’s design that made the homepage spread a few days ago. In the comment I suggested a few tags since there were none associated with the graphic. Later, was thinking: are their strong, obvious tags for works that aren’t used because only the creator is adding them? Or maybe an American’s graphics evoke some other local words in NZ, Australia, UK, etc that would drive traffic, but are unknown to him? For instance, a car”boot” in the UK is a car “trunk” in the US. The UK creator may not think to add “trunk” to the piece’s tags, though that could snag some searches from the US. So, walking through my t-shirt designs, are their obvious tags I left out? Too many/redundant? Non-US words you would strongly associate with a given design? The sales forums often advise to cull weaker designs, and a few months ago I hid four for this reason. Are there any in my stack that should just go? For instance, an easy removal are probably my “creep” and “ex-creep” tees. It seemed like a good idea at the time but it was only because I found masking tape photoshop brushes. If asking for help like this works at all, this method would be a good forum topic—multiple readers comb through one artist’s current profile and art pages to strengthen and streamline tag SEO, as well as gently suggesting what pieces are real turn-offs, to make a more appealing set of pages. I’m thinking it could be similar to the critique forums, but less emphasis on the art, more on the web presentation. Thanx – ANKOH20

Very Exciting – it went live last night just before I went to bed. The main reason for posting this journal entry is to encourage others to have a go as well. Why? Its a good lesson in the importance of good tagging. My general theme was browns/greens and animals. What I learnt – especially if you want to increase your chances of being selected on the home page is to – describe the main colours in your image, mention the main objects/animals/plants in your image, maybe even include some emotive words like fear, jealousy etc if that is what your image is showing. Look forward to seeing you on the homepage and your homepage suggestions. WillowsWhimsy

I have a question for any RB CS4 gurus, or anyone who knows the answer regardless of guru status. When I enter Keywords for my photos on the File Info form in Photoshop CS4 the default separator is a semicolon (;). I usually copy this string of keywords and paste it into the Tags field on the RB file uploader/edit window to save time and because my memory is a little shaky … Well, it’s also good housekeeping because the same tag words embedded in my file are shown below the artwork on RB. The problem is that RB wants Tags separated with commas (,) so I have to go back through and change each ; for , before I can save the file on RB. The question is can I change this default separator for Keywords on the file info form in CS4? I know one may use either a semicolon or a comma when entering the Keywords, but they default back to semicolons once the file info is saved. Thanks in advance for you attention and help :-)
