  • This work is a metal etching that was printed with black ink on a heavyweight paper. The original dimensions of the copper plate are 9in X 12in. The predominant half of the face is a frontal view and it changes perspectives to also incorporate a profile view with the other half of the face. There are many symbiotic lines that I enjoyed playing with while sketching my image design: the eyebrow is also the top of the forehead; the nose expresses two perspectives; the mouth is exaggerated and conveys two angles also. The dimensional movement of the piece represents the synchronization of how it was made and meant to be viewed. The piece was produced using a hard ground etching process. There are also embossed shapes within some of the figure that I selectively placed to achieve an even greater dimension and depth within the pure white paper.

  • Carl Jung gave us many examples of synchronicity which give rise to experiences which are meaningful and inexplicable. I today experienced something myself. It is the anniversary of my mother’s death. This morning I was talking to my sister about the events which occurred that day. Our recollections varied. I know that I was always worrying about my mother. My mother’s passions were music, poetry, literature and singing. I loved to hear her sing. It made me feel that I was really at home when I was doing something and in the background I could hear her lovely voice. Just before she died I wrote a poem called The Cold Dark Night….I was eleven years old. The night was cold and yet I felt warm air, / I could feel love flowing somewhere. / As I looked around me I saw myself / Standing there. / Not at all a hero, / As I thought I was – but a beggar boy, / Standing in the streets that night. / It was all like a dream coming true, / And I had to live it all through. / I started to walk the country lane / In the midst of the dark night / And then I saw myself, again, as a different sight. / I saw myself, like a black shadow waiting for it’s prey / And then I began to walk slightly away / For I was scared of what I might see if I went ahead; / And then, just then, I saw myself….. As me. To a wonderful lady that continues to inspire me daily…. My mother…..Antoinette 3rd February 2009

  • Digital Art I have to laugh at myself…........after a day of catching up on accounting work, I really needed some color and some fun, so this piece evolved. / It started out simply using Gel Painter, then I used some effects with Harry’s Filters. Finally, I used one of my own displacement maps that I have designed and layered it onto the piece. There ya go, Synchronized Chaos.

  • In the big picture of things, All is Well….the Universe operates in Perfect Balance, even when we don’t feel it. Don’t you just love those moments of Grace when you feel so aware of the Synchronicity of Life and the Sacred Peace that comes with that? The Balance—Moody Blues / After he had journeyed, / And his feet were sore, / And he was tired, / He came upon an orange grove / And he rested / And he lay in the cool, / And while he rested, he took to himself an orange and tasted it, / And it was good. / And he felt the earth to his spine, / And he asked, and he saw the tree above him, and the stars, / And the veins in the leaf, / And the light, and the balance. / And he saw magnificent perfection, / Whereon he thought of himself in balance, / And he knew he was. Just open your eyes, / And realize, the way it’s always been. / Just open your mind / And you will find / The way it’s always been. / Just open your heart / And that’s a start. And he thought of those he angered, / For he was not a violent man, / And he thought of those he hurt / For he was not a cruel man / And he thought of those he frightened / For he was not an evil man, / And he understood. / He understood himself. Upon this he saw that when he was of anger or knew hurt or felt fear, / It was because he was not understanding, / And he learned, compassion. And with his eye of compassion. / He saw his enemies like unto himself, / And he learned love. / Then, he was answered. Just open your eyes, / And realize, the way it’s always been. / Just open your mind / And you will find / The way it’s always been. / Just open your heart / And that’s a start.
