Acrylic on canvas 70×50 cm / 2005 (original available) I have a fascination for painting with lines…it starts with one…then another and more…and sometimes I have only a small idea of what it will be….others it’s more preconceived…but along the way it’s amazing to watch these lines form into something tangible…it reminds me of life and how things join and connect to make more and more each day a life wave / in and out / out and in it rolls / in to the shore it drags / out to sea turbulent days / made of Grey / calm night / full moon shining constant motion / constant feeling life wave / take me away

Ah the fabled cherry—the poetic color of luscious lips, and just as sweet. It started out in West Asia (perhaps the Persia-Armenia region) and in two varietals from which all cultivated cherries are descended: Prunus avium (sweet) and Prunus cerasus (sour). Sweet cherries had spread to Ancient Greece and the Mediterranean by 300 BCE, for Theophrastus mentions them. And Pliny the Elder (1st century AD) mentions that some 8 varieties of cherries were being cultivated in Italy—and that the Romans were spreading them as far north as Britain. The British, in turn, carried it to the New World in the 17th century (Beyond the huge crops in Michigan, California, Oregon, and Washington, American wild cherries include the chokecherry, the pin cherry, and the wild black cherry. Sour cherries have spread even farther north, and are a speciality of Germany and Scandanavia. Today it is estimated that some 900 sweet varieties (ranging in color from yellow to black) and some 300 sour varieties are being grown. I also experimented with this image in photoshop. I cut, cropped and merged two flowers from two different pictures together. I dusted them lightly with clouds (photoshop brushes) of different colors, basic brushes, special effect brushes and sharpened the image (filter gallery). I also altered the color (filter forge) and detail. Then I added swirls and leaves (more photoshop brushes) and added some style to it. I love the way this came out!!
