This is the last of my older works (I think) / Swan Splash was done about 20 years ago / One of my first pen and ink drawings in this / style. / I have done this piece about 5 times for / exhibitions over the years (different sizes and / slightly different details) but this is the original / that only I have. It was a bit beaten up as I used / it as a reference, so its been cleaned up a bit / in PS to make it presentable once more. xx A New Art Print is Available over on Zazzle- Square Format with dove grey border and text …............. /

The defensive Tower house of Smailholm, just over the Scottish border, near Kelso. The tower was built in the mid 1400’s at a time when lawlessness and violent bands of reivers, ravaged the lands both sides of the English-Scottish border. And a solitary white swan, resides below the Tower Even today, the landscape is lonely, and you can easily imagine the starkness of those dark days.

This was taken on the shore of Lake Ontario in Port Credit. I was sitting on the pebbled shore one very early (and cold) morning tossing breadcrusts to ducks when all of a sudden these swans came from around the bend with an air of graceful curiosity. It was one of those times when I got in the car that I kept checking the monitor of the camera …hoping it would be in focus! :-D
