  • Took it today as a huge storm was rolling in. It’s still IR. / / / / / / /

  • The salty remains in a back water lagoon off the River Murray, Lyrup, South Australia. Access to this area is next to the Ferry at Lyrup. The drought continues to effect this mighty river…. Even though sections are in trouble the main parts of the river continue to survive and the communities along them need our support! There is still plenty of water in the river main and lots of activities to be had. Canon 400D 18 – 55 lens with polarising filter. 3 shot HDR in Photomatix.

  • Thre’s a thing in the swamp and it only comes out at night…oooooo;) / Another in my collection of Vintage movie parodies…guess which one;) / Image copyright © 2008 Shanina Conway. / Copying and displaying or redistribution of this image without permission from the artist is strictly prohibited. /

  • Taken at Celestun in Mexico’s Yucatan peninsula these flamingos are feeding in amazing numbers in a tidal estuary flanked by mangrove forests… tho there used to be even more until some recent hurricanes dispersed some of the breeding groups to elsewhere… more details here Taken with a compact camera as I was not confident in taking my new dslr afloat on a boat trip yet! Pity tho – an opportunity well and truly missed! And here is a shot of a mangrove pool in the nearby forest /

  • Dawn, Upper Everglades, Hungry Land Nature Preserve. Florida. / Nikon D300, Handheld. / Inspired by the highly overlooked jazz giant Albert Ayler, Ghosts Featured in Sets of Two

  • Night time shot, taken in the backwaters of the River Murray, near Lyrup in the Riverland area of South Australia. Beautiful still night with mirror image reflections of the majestic dead river gums. BEST Viewed large. Canon 400D 18-55 lens. Processed in Photoshop CS3.

  • Late afternoon, Lyrup flats between Renmark and Berri in the Riverland of South Australia. Afternoon shots whilst waiting for the sun to go down for a night time shoot. The clouds moved apart and left this diamond like section reflecting nicely on the still backwaters. Again a visit to one of my favourite places where these huge River gums stand defiant against nature, dead but not finished….... Canon 400D 18-55 lens, CIR Polarising filter. Three shot panoramic stitch in CS3 and converted to B&W in the same program.

  • Swamp in the morning

  • Hartsville, SC. USA. original negative shot on Ilford HP5 400. color added in layer mask separations in old Photoshop 4.0 one of my first digital manipulations done 10 years ago.

  • Before the dawn, Noora Evaporation basin near Renmark South Australia. Just before the sun with a brooding blue stormy cloud line silhouetting the majestic old dead river redgum trees that line the basin. As most of you know this is one of my favorite spots to sit and watch the sun come up! Canon 400D – 18-55 lens with CIR Polariser topped with ND4.
