A trio of boulders on Indian Beach surrounded by the seas of the incoming tide as the sun sets over the Tillamook Rock Lighthouse. I arrived with another photographer to catch the sunset. It was raining, he left while I slipped on my rainjacket and was able to catch the spetacular colors of this sunset.

“For me, a landscape does not exist in its own right, since its appearance changes at every moment; but the surrounding atmosphere brings it to life – the light and the air which vary continually. For me, it is only the surrounding atmosphere which gives subjects their true value.” Claude Monet (French painter, initiator and leader of the Impressionist style, 1840-1926) Taken in middle of a rain storm, yesterday.

Oil Pastel And Acrylic And Minor Digital Enhancements Concept: This is one of the many in Ophelia’s Love Encounters Series, it’s her experience of many facets of this wonderful thing called LOVE.. This is what she has to say about love today : “Love means being surrounded by redbubblers everyday.” Time rockets! Had some pockets of reflection and guess what…have been here on RB for 2 months already, I just entered my 3rd month :D Life on RB has been so enjoyable and enriching for me but I have one major regret. That is I should have joined much earlier. I remembered when I first joined this community, Fa assured me that this is the most vibrant online community that she has ever experienced and that I would enjoy my stay here…and of course, she’s right!! As I am staying in a foreign country(I’m a Singaporean living in Thailand) and working alone most of the times, RB has given me much support in terms of creative expression and a great pool of friends whom I know care for me. I wouldnt dare ask for more :D Truly grateful for all the friends whom I have made over these months, friends who have constantly provided feedback and comments to my work, both here and in my smile4me gallery, who have favorited my works and exchanged numerous bmails with..I owe my beautiful stay in RB to all of you! This little piece of artwork is me saying THANK YOU to all you beautiful people out there!! :D /

I went to the Knoxville Zoo for the first time in November of 2008. It was the first time I had visited this zoo since I had moved to this area in 2000. / As I was shooting this bear, I could feel it’s pain. I felt it was so ironic that the native animal of this area was living in the enviroment it has to live in. So as I was shooting this shot, that is when the title came to my mind. It literally drove me crazy listening to people making sounds at it, and hitting the glass, I think I did well by not just going off on them, which is what I really wanted to do. / As much as I hate to say it, I wasnt impressed with the zoo’s set up for all the animals I viewed while I was there. Just hard to make a home with concrete walls, fake trees, and a blank surrounding. / Without a doubt, I have adapted quickly to shooting these animals in the wild, in their natural habitat. / I shot this thru the glass, after getting my shot ready for auto focus, I switched to manual so my lens wouldnt focus in on the glass as I hit the shutterbutton. / Shooting at an angle so the glare from behind me wouldnt reflect on the glass. I shot this in Shutterspeed (SS) mode / SS set at 1/160 / Fstop at F 5.6 / ISO at 400 / Focal length at 300mm / Exposure compensation at 0

FEATURED IN SONY SHOOTERS ON 10-31-2009. FEATURED IN ALASKA ~ BEYOND YOUR DREAMS ON 10-03-2009. © Deb Larson SONY A900; f/9; 1/200 sec.; ISO-200; 150 mm; Sony 4 – 5.6 70-400 SSM Lens. Taken on 9-14-2009 from the paved lookout at mile 101.7 of the Glenn Highway. Matanuska Glacier is a valley glacier and is located in the heart of the Chugach Mountains. It is 27 miles long by 4 miles wide and is the largest glacier in the United States that is accessible by car. Some 18,000 years ago, the glacier stretched all the way to the Palmer area. The meltwater drains into a stream which is the source of the Matanuska River. This is an active glacier that expands around a foot a day. An unusual feature of the glacier is the presence of a weather hole (an area/location that receives calmer weather than the surrounding area … thunderstorms often miss, or near which approaching storms often dissipate) making the weather unusually clear and sunny. Information gathered from the The Milepost – Alaska 1995 edition and Wikipedia via the internet on 10-02-2009.
I got into a bit of trouble the other night. Minny wanted to dance and what did I do? Sunk the poor girl to the bottom of the ocean just so that I could selfishly try to rid my mind of some persistent lyrics – that worked btw ;) Bad bad bad Rhana… So today we set up the stage lights and put on some Evermore, resulting in a very happy Minny.
