Ever had that feeling of absence?

The Sea Venture was one of the first ships to arrive in Bermuda. It was thrown accidentally off course by a hurricane and landed on the reefs intact. Its original course was with a fleet from England headed towards / Jamestown, Virginia to aid in the colonization. From being shipwrecked, the crew and passengers of the Sea Venture settled in Bermuda and benefitted from its tropical paradise and set up a small colony. This painting is a Mixed Media piece, combining original digital photography taken in Bermuda by SBC, painting, and drawing. It is intended to capture the natural and surreal beauty of Bermuda. It won an Honorable Mention Award in the Rowayton Art Show in 2006 and First Place in the Darien Art Show in 2007. Thank you for your interest, comments and purchases!

Walking towards the edge of a once flattened world, he realized his species sometimes need another consciousness which feels and sees the imaginary but possible paths living in more dimensions nowadays offers… That expedition sometimes requires to see things differently… In Einsteins world time is change… Nothing seems to be obvious. Although the boundaries of our imagination also seem to look quite endless I think it still requires more flexibility in looking at things to understand possibilities within change. These tank traps were placed along the length of Stockton Bight during WW II. Saw this intriging etching on a wall in a delapidated old factory. It was very faint so I just upped the contrast to bring out the beauty of the sketch in amongst the old textures of the wall. / Featured in The Just Walls Group Sept 09, many thanks to the group and hosts. Somewhere Over the Rainbow….. / In this work I started with the vision of a Grass Widow, patiently waiting for her husband to return but somewhere along the line, it came to represent those of us who take a backseat to life. Fear keeps us rooted in our comfort zones even though we are tired and bored in our surroundings. / / We’re afraid if we chase the rainbow the sky will crumble, open up and bad things happen ….so we sit back and watch life play out like a movie on a big screen.. What is Reality anymore? Why is it that a dream is so definitely a dream? why do we wake up in the “Real World” and say ‘Oh it was just a dream’ why do we not wake up in the dream world and say the same? A mind can wonder around trying to think of its reasons and what is absoluteness, but suddenly, once it is settled on a thought that pleases it, a train of supposed rationality crashes through the supports you spent so much time building and fortifying. A sudden Boom and in an instant your ideas of reality become ruble and burning carnage, your thoughts destroyed beyond recognition. At this moment you find yourself lost once more, with an inability to find your way down again because you have no clue what down really is, questioning everything trying to find out what it is that is so real about the real world. .
