Memories of a lifestyle and an obsession that I had years ago. Times change and I can’t believe that I moved on, but I did. I traveled to many parts of New South Wales and Queensland to surf. But Newcastle is my home town and the place where I surfed most of the time. There is a photo that accompanies this poem called Afternoon Surf Session / Featured in – / The All Things Poetic, Artistic, Philosophical group on Saturday 12/09/2009. Thanks to Suzanne German for choosing to feature my work. The You’re Accepted group on Sunday 13/09/2009. Thanks to Nancy and Lisa for the feature ! Comments are very welcome ! Feedback is a great teacher for all of us.

I’m not a surfer [pretended to be a surfie chick once – hated the sand & the sunburn lol] / But this shot Into the Light from the awesomly talented Ms Gabryshak had me remembering waking up in the dunes on cold mornings poking your head out of the tiny 2 man tents to see the guys in their wet suits eagerly, gleefully running for the breakers. / I often wondered if this was what Penguins thought of life and the world! / Enjoy! :O)

Newcastle NSW Australia has for many years been changing its image from an industrial town to a vital tourist destination. It has always had the beaches, the lakes, the rivers, the mountains and the people but now everything is laid out for visitors to enjoy. Bear with us while the final stages of restoration takes place … but meanwhile visit and stay awhile, relax and enjoy what this area has to offer. Look behind the scenes of the city and experience true beauty and excitement … after all this is “Our Town” ... this is Newcastle. / ♥Coal Loader image compliments of my hubbie, Phil Woodman
