Kitesurfing or kiteboarding is a surface water sport that uses wind power to pull a rider through the water on a small surfboard or a kiteboard (similar to a wakeboard). Generally kiteboarding refers to a style of riding known as freestyle or wake-style, whereas kitesurfing is more “wave-riding” oriented. These two styles usually require different boards and specific performance kites.

A stormy day at Peggy’s Cove, Nova Scotia, as the Atlantic Ocean kicks up it’s heels and sends spray up and over the huge granite rocks, left over from the glaciers of the last Ice Age, 10,000 or so years ago. In this part of the province, a protected area, the retreating ice gouged out the softer substrate but the granite was too hard, leaving an amazing landscape that has captivated hundreds of thousands of visitors from all over the world. These people are standing in a dangerous place, as quite a few persons have slipped off the edge and drowned in the seething surf and strong undertows. Still, the draw of the sea seems to be too strong a magnet. / Taken on October 21, 2006, with a Sony DSCF828 camera. Featured in “At The Edge”
