I took this shot of a very hazardous stretch of coastline on the very southern tip of Newfoundland just below a lighthouse. The winds were so high that day and the sea was whipped into such a boiling cauldron, my imagination was taken away. As I stood there and watched I could almost visualize a ghost ship emerging from the fog, the lighthouse that stood just above me was blowing its foghorn which added a sense of eerieness to the already somber scene. The winds lashed at me attempting to pluck me into the sea as a offering of peace for disturbing this epic battle between land and sea. / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography / /
I was down at Newcastle Beach this morning because I woke up to see a big swell pumping through Merewether but it just wasn’t performing.. so I decided to explore other parts of Newcastle which I’ve never bothered to photograph before. I was set up with my 500mm lens to get some surfing photographs, but due to the salty mist (making it difficult to see and focus) and my low placement (couldnt really see the wave if a wave had just broken in front of it), it wasn’t ideal for any decent surfing photographs. There were only a few decent waves coming through anyway which were actually being ridden, some were a bit too fat or shutting down too soon. So I swivled my gigantic lens around to see these guys waiting patiently to jump off the rocks into the surf. With the low sun, it created some beautiful back lighting perfect for silhouettes.
A photo I took yesterday at the East Ballina wall with a liiiitle bit of help from photoshop. I don’t know what’s happening to me! I’m usually such a pen and paper girl but can’t seem to get enough of “digitally re-mastering” my amateur photos.

Sales of this Design? – 1 sale so far :) / Ride Like the Wind is a card from the Beach Series and Inspired Series by Karin Taylor….. / in the dark of night she escapes suburbia to find the giant swell of the rolling ocean beckoning her from the shoreline…..she notices a makeshift board on the edge, where the waves ebb and flow in a cheeky hello…....bracing herself, she skims the board through the shallows and onto the wave, which picks her up as though it were cradling her in it’s arms, throws her forward and there she stands in all her glory, the moonlight guiding her way to another land, where in the soft glow of the morning light ~ life will be gentler, people kinder and her heart can mend…....
