Sunset wood

  • The sun was setting so beautifully over the woods carpeted in little white flowers, and framed with allysa.

  • The sunlight barely made it through to the thick forest but it did just before the sunset. River really likes the “dark forest” – she becomes more alive in the “darkness”. :) Donation to charity / 50% of the proceeds of the sale of this image will be donated to Algonquin Park

  • A still evening in high Summer. The heat can still be felt just by looking into the sky as the Sunset washes the countryside with its amber tones, bringing out the charm and character of the location. As you stand here watching the trees sway in the wind you feel the warm breeze on your face. Momentarily closing your eyes you are lost in a moment of complete tranquility and peace, as nothing apart from the sounds of nature and your breath can be heard. Silence is truely golden and this is examplified even more at the very moment you open your eyes and behold this wonderous beauty before you. • Taken on slide film and scanned. Tandle Hill Country Park is a country park in Royton, Greater Manchester, England. It consists of approximately 110 acres (45 ha), a combination of beech woodland and open grassland. The park contains a countryside centre (opened in 1994), picnic areas, children’s play area and numerous trails and paths into the surrounding area. Two countryside rangers are based at the countryside centre. In fine weather conditions, it offers views of Manchester and the Welsh mountains. I grew up in Royton (was born there in fact) and spent much of my childhood and teens playing there, exploring, camping, sledging etc. Also dated my first girl-friends there too!

  • The woods are lovely, dark, and deep, / But I have promises to keep, / And miles to go before I sleep, / And miles to go before I sleep. / Robert Frost – 1923 – “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening” / This poem was also used in the film “Telefon” (1977) as a code phrase to activate sleeper agents / These last lines of Robert Frost’s poem “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening” describe my own feelings when I see the deep Canadian forests in British Columbia. I think of times when I was a child and believed that magic could be found behind every trunk, in every shadow, under every bit of moss; of times in the woods, when I would just stand there in awe, listening to the stillness. Each moment was so precious … Then I ‘hear the clock ticking’ and I move back into the noise … / “I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep.” / / / / Des Waldes Dunkel zieht mich an, / doch muss zu meinem Wort ich stehn … / und Meilen gehen, / bevor ich schlafen kann. / / Example: Mounted Print /

  • Had a great shoot at Hamelin Bay on Sunday, got some really nice shots. Had a little trouble with a guy fishing though, kept stepping directly in front of the camera, no matter where I set up. He left when the sun went down over the horizon though, which left me to take as many shots as I wanted. The wood in the photo is what remains of Hamelin Bay’s Jetty.
