  • A gnarled stump washed up on the beach as a storm drives the normally calm waters ashore at Neptune Beach in Northern Washington.

  • Windfarm at Keithley Moor Yorkshire seconds before the light vanished.

  • been reading about tribal child raising and the benefits, and we know I like birds… I began this art as abstract patterns, bubbles of pattern that transformed when I realised by putting a ‘fork in the road’ to the concentric circles, that I created an eye and beak. Before that, it could’ve been shown either way up. also, it transformed from earthy brown colours, to a colourful bird. ‘Is it art? ‘my teacher used to always question. He’s not here now. He’s just asking the question still! in my head! I like it-it’s bright, colouful and alive.

  • This is what was remaining this evening around 5:30, and after a day of horrific wind, and thunderstorms moving through Northern California. We had a severe wind warning; big rigs were pulling over on the I5 and the wind was almost impossible to drive in, gusting in every direction. The rain came down in torrants, and window wipers didn’t seem to help much and then just as quickly as it moved in, it was gone…the sun was shining through the clouds and the sun was beginning to set…..this is what was left, just Beautiful and Wild! ___ All The Materials Contained May Not Be Reproduced, Copied, Edited, Published, Transmitted Or Uploaded In Any Way Without My Permission. • I was chasing a hot air balloon across south east Lincolnshire trying to get close enough for a decent picture of it when I spotted some wind turbines at Deeping St Nicholas. The sun was going down so I decided to take some pictures of these instead (never did get close enough to that balloon) this is my favorite one of the series. BTW I never appreciated just how HUGE they are, I managed to walk across the fields right up to one and climbed its steps… I felt like an ant next to it.

  • The nude model draped in light flowing material blowing in the wind at sunset at the beach. Captured with a Canon 40D with a f4 70-200 USM IS L lens. / 1/250th,ISO200,centreweighted,focal length 70mm,

  • A stunning Scottish sunset behind a wind farm near Thurso on Scotlands North coast. The low lying fog really sets the turbines off. One of my favourites.

  • It is not how it looked in the viewfinder but it is how I wanted it to look in the end. The process of creating photographs is one with endless possibilities between the accurate recordings and significant transformations through camera settings and post processing steps. There is no "right" way to do all this and all options are available – at least for the open minded. So we choose the shutter speed, set the aperture, widen the angle or zoom in, highlight some elements, darken others, sharpen somethings, blur others, saturate and de-saturate, blend and hide,... all which change and transform the raw photo into something interesting for the eye – at times even visual art. Here I tried to create a piece of work that resembled the reality but also transcended into new visual dimensions which could not be seen by the human eye on location – merely in my mind. The long exposure and various post processing steps made this possible. The raw material was captured on Havskåren, a tiny island in the Oslofjord by the Nøtterøy archipelago. I posted this because I liked how the composition turned out. I also love the colors – muted yet warm and inviting. Earth colors. I hope you enjoy this work as much as I enjoyed creating it.

  • Palm Silhouettes / Sunset Christmas Day on Maui The Adventurer “Dusk on the sea; the fading twilight shifts / The night wind bears the ocean’s whisper dim wind, on your bosom many a phantom drifts - A silver star climbs up the blue world rim. / Wind, make the green leaves dance above me here And idly swing my silken hammock – so; / Now, on that glimmering molten silver mere / Send the long ripples wavering to and fro. / And let your moon-white tresses touch my face And let me know your slim-armed, cool embrace While to my dreamy soul you whisper low. Dream – aye, I’ve dreamed since last night left her tower And now again she comes on star-soled feet. Welcome, old friend; here in this rose-gemmed bower I’ve drowsed away your Sultan’s golden heat. Here in my hammock, Time I’ve dreamed away For I have but to stretch a hand out, lo, I’m treading languorous shores of Yesterday, Moon-silvered deserts or the star-weird snow; I float o’er seas where ships are purple shells, / I hear the tinkle of the camel bells / That waft down Cairo’s streets when dawn winds blow. South Seas! I watch when dusky twilight comes Making vague gods of ancient, sea-set trees. / The world path beckons – loud the mystic drums – Here at my hand the magic golden keys / That fit the doors of Romance, / Wonder, / strange / Dim gossamer adventures; seas and stars. Why, I have roamed the far Moon Mountain range When sunset minted gold in shimmering bars. / All eager eyed I’ve sailed from ports of Spain / And watched the flashing topaz of the Main / When dawn was flinging witch fire on the spars. / I am content in dreams to roam my fill / The vagrant, drifting sport of wind and tide, / Slave of the greater freedom, venture’s thrill; / Here every magic ship on which I ride. Gold, green, blue, red, a priceless treasure trove, More wealth than ever pirate dared to dream. / My hammock swings – about the world I rove. / The sunset’s dusk, the dawning’s glide and gleam, Moon-dappled leaves are murmuring in the wind Which whispers tales. Lo, Tyre is just behind, Through seas of dawn I sail, / Romance abeam.” ~ by Robert Ervin Howard My images do not belong to the public domain and may not be reproduced in any manner whatsover without my express written authorization. / Copyright © Sharon Mau 2009 / All Rights Reserved Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi / 25 December 2008 19:25:33 / Tv Shutter Speed 1/250 / Av Aperture Value 10.0 / ISO 100 / Lens EF28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM / Focal Length 28.0 mm Currently with 995 Views and 1 Sale

  • dreamstime, sxc.hu and three sky backs from night-fate-stock.deviantart.com “Ride Like the Wind” by Christopher Cross It is the night. My body’s weak. / I’m on the run. No time to sleep. / I’ve got to ride. Ride like the wind to be free again. / And I got such a long way to go. / To make it to the border of Mexico. / So I’ll ride like the wind. I was born the son of a lawless man. / Always spoke my mind with a gun in my hand. / Lived nine lives / gunned down ten. / Gonna ride like the wind. And I got such a long way to go. / To make it to the border of Mexico. / So I’ll ride like the wind. / Ride like the wind. / Ride like the wind. Accused and tried and told to hang / I was no where in sight / when the church bells rang. / Never was the kind to do as I was told. / Gonna ride like the wind before I get old. It is the night. My body’s weak. / I’m on the run. No time to sleep. / I’ve got to ride. / Ride like the wind to be free again. And I got such a long way to go. / To make it to the border of Mexico. / So I’ll ride like the wind. / Ride like the wind. And I got such a long way to go. / To make it to the border of Mexico. / So I’ll ride like the wind. / Gonna run like the wind. This was made for a local Mexican restaurant… :)

  • This is the most important and popular piece of art of the Spanish and Basque famous sculptor Eduardo Chillida. Belongs to an author’s style, a blend of informality, Minimalism and Land Art. It was created in 1977 as a set of three sculptures of steel embedded in the rocks of the sea. They are located on the Ondarreta promenade of Donosti city(Basque Country) where you can see the waves breaking on them. Canon 400D Featured work in Going Coastal group (August 09) /
