Taken on a ship as it left Sydney Harbour; this is just to the right of the Harbour Bridge as you leave. This photo was taken on a rather glum day, but the Sun appeared just as we were leaving, giving pretty much everything an orange tint.

Lakes entrance is a fishing port and tourist town located on the Southeastern coast of Victoria, Australia. It is near a natual channel which connects the Gippsland Lakes to Bass Straight. The town has been a popular holiday destination for generations of Victorians, yet has managed to retain its smalltown rural charm. Surfing on the nearby Ninety Mile Beach is a popular attraction, as is fishing from the many piers and bridges in the area. Family entertainment such as minigolf and the popular Shell Museum cater to all ages. This sunset was truly one of the most magnificent I’ve ever seen. Everyone in the town stopped to watch the spectacle and I shot many dozens of photos, trying to capture the glorious warm golden light that flooded the river. This is also my most successful attempt at a High Dynamic Range photo. I took three exposures at different settings to try and capture a broader range of detail in the highlights and shadows, and manually merged them together in photoshop.

Sunset over Tathra Beach and Wharf on 29th June 2008. This panorama was made stitching together 4 images. No manipulation of colour has occurred to this image! Mimosa Rocks National Park is in the background. It was a great sunset over a few glasses of ‘red’! For best viewing click on ‘view larger.
I’m not a beach person, never have been, but after reading Anne Morrow Lindbergh’s Gift from the Sea which was written on Sanibel/Captiva Island, Florida, I had a strong urge to go there. My husband and I took a belated 37th wedding anniversary trip to the islands which we thoroughly enjoyed. The sunrises and sunsets were a joyous sight for us, and this photo which I’ve titled “Last Light” is among my favorites as it symbolizes the way people cling to the last rays of light on the beach, squeezing in every available moment at the seashore. The area in the distance was a gathering place for fishermen who continued to cast till they could see no more.
I could not resist this image of these 2 kids watching the fantastic sunset I had just been imaging. The brother and sister looked wonderful in silhouette at the end of the Wharf. Taken on a Wharf at Green Point looking into Brisbane Water on the Central Coast of NSW. This image was taken with a Nikon D70

Taken mid September, an opportunist shot on the way home, I noticed the sky colour in the rear view mirror, turned of at Petone and raced don the wharf, just got a couple of shots of before it died. View towards Wellington, very cold air seems to bring out a rich colour spectrum but only lasts for seconds. / taken on a nikon D700 with 17-35mm Nikkor lens, 100 ISO, active D-Lighting on, processed in photomatrix and photoshop.
