As Sydney was ravaged by bushfires, a thick blanket of smoke spread across the sky. The sun shining through it turned one of the cities most famous icon a beautiful gold.

I took this shot in Bateau Bay, which is part of Central Coast New South Wales Australia. Roughly 2 hours above Sydney. I love the glow of sunsets in wet sand and this, broken by the rocks, formed a scene I just had to capture!

I took this on the Rhigos mountain, South Wales, from the back of my mam’s car on the way home from a family holiday. Taken with a mobile phone camera (!) (5 megapixels…i think). I cropped the image so that it had a natural frame with centred sunset, then enriched the colours using the warming functions of Picasa. Used as the group Avatar for Wales, Rich in Beauty!

THIS COUPLE WERE WALKING ALONG THE WET SAND DURING A SUNSET ON TENBY BEACH WALES. TROUBLE WAS THE BACKGROUND WAS NOT SO GOOD. THE SUNSET IN THIS SHOT WAS ON ANOTHER BEACH WITH WET SAND. PERFECT. I DROPPED THE COUPLE FROM ONE BEACH TO ANOTHER. OK I CHEATED, I CAN NEVER BE A POLITICIAN NOW, I TOLD THE TRUTH ! ITS ALL A BIT OF FUN

Taken with a Canon 400D, Sigma 17-70 lens edited in Photoshop CS3 Talacre is a village in Flintshire on the North Wales coast with large holiday caravan parks adjacent. It is near Point of Ayr on the west side of the River Dee estuary and has a sandy beach with dunes. The hills of the Clwydian Range behind the village form the eastern boundary of the Vale of Clwyd. The village is probably most popular for the lighthouse on the nearby beach and the Talacre Beach Caravan Park, a short walk away from the Presthaven Sands holiday park. Talacre was used by the military during World War II, as an aircraft firing range. Fighters flew over the remote village every day, shooting at wooden targets in the dunes and at drogues towed by aircraft. It was also used for testing new devices, such as “window” the anti-radar foil that, on occasion, covered the whole village with silver. Please view large!

The late summer’s evening tide had just gone out, and during those few moments before it turned to crawl back in again, this craft, “the night owl” slowly drifted across the calm mirror like waters towards home, the harbour at Borth-y-Gest. One of my favorite “own” works because i spent so many childhood days on this beach with my father who is no longer with us. he’d have loved this picture but didn’t get to see it. such is the pain of life and death. My “North Wales” Calender features this, and more images that evoke mt own childhood memories.
