  • THIS IS A BIG IMAGE VIEW LARGER FOR BEST RESULTS This shot was taken from Echo Point in the Blue Mountains World Heritage Area at sunset, it was created from 5 bracketed images using a Nikon D300 fitted with a Nikon 18-200mm. No filters were used. The rock formations to the left are known as “The Three Sisters” the image was taken at sunrise looking past the Sisters certainly have a great view. The Blue Mountains are located 2 hours west of Sydney by road, also by train for visitors to Sydney, there are also organised day trips via motor coach that will take you to the area for the day…. though if you have the time spend a few days in the area. You can see all the attractions, have a devonshire tea in one of the many teahouses, or sit on the edge of the valley that seems to go on forever, and listen to the birdlife. Bushwalking is a must !

  • BEST VIEWING LARGER I had great fun wandering this magical area , the home to hundreds of bird species that have made home to this oasis, add to that the wonderful sunsets over the Murray and to get one like this you do feel Blessed ! “Wonga” is Wiradjuri for Black Cormorant, still one of the most abundant bird species in this area. The Wonga Wetlands was named to give recognition to the local flora and fauna, and the important relationship the Aboriginal people had with this environment. *Restoring Natural Flow * / / A unique environmental development has taken shape downstream from Albury, along the floodplain of the Murray River – the Wonga Wetlands. The water that is bringing new life to this beautiful country is not directly from the river – it’s from the AlburyCity’s wastewater treatment systems. During the warmer months the reclaimed treated wastewater is used for irrigation, while in wetter months it is redirected to the wetlands, helping to restore the natural flow regime. Since the construction of the Hume Dam in 1919, the Murray River has been regulated for irrigation and does not flood as often. When flooding occurs, it is now often in the late Spring or Summer and is of a lower intensity. This alteration to the natural flow has dried out many of the floodplain wetlands and billabongs, destroying the bird and fish breeding habitat. The Wonga Wetlands development is an opportunity to revert to the original hydrological regime, with birds and other wildlife now returning to the wetlands For more information on Wonga Wetlands“ / / Equipment: Nikon D300, Sigma 10-20mm lens, Manfrotto Tripod, Luck / Technique:HDR, 5 Braketted Exposures, Photomatix Pro, Tidy up in Capture NX

  • BEST VIEWED LARGER / Thanks for dropping in the favouritings, Comments and Views are greatly appreciated Narrabeen Lakes is a popular paddling spot on the Northern Beaches of / Sydney. The surrounding hills and trees make it quite sheltered. The fact that / it is right next to one of the world’s best surf beaches is an added bonus North Narrabeen lies on the northern shores of Narrabeen lagoon, bounded by Warriewood to the north, Elanora Heights to the west and extends east to the ocean at Turrimetta Beach. Narrabeen is opposite on the southern shore of the lagoon. The first land grants were made to John Lees, 40 acres, Philip Schaffer, 50 acres, and James Wheeler, 80 acres, along the south bank of Mullet Creek. Alex Macdonald was granted 80 acres at the beach in 1815 and west of this land JT Collins had 93.5 acres by 1857. During the nineteenth century travellers had to ford the lake until 1880 when the first bridge opened. A second bridge at the mouth of the lagoon in Ocean Street was built in 1925. With the extension of the tram to Narrabeen in 1913 providing easier transport, the whole area around the lake became popular for holidays and camping. A large camping ground became established on the north shore of the lagoon. In 1946 the Wakehurst Parkway was opened to North Narrabeen connecting the whole Pittwater area directly to Frenchs Forest and Seaforth. The origins of the name Narrabeen are uncertain, possibilities are: Narrabin, a native plant growing near the lake entrance; Narrabine, an Aborigine girl; narrow beans eaten by early explorers. James Meehan mentions Narrowbang lagoon in his survey in 1815. / This shot was taken as the sun sets over the lakes, I would like to thank the guy who was kayaking his kayak mde this shot , so it helps the make do with whats in your shot Equipment: Nikon D300,sigma 10-20mm, handheld Technique: HDR, 5 bracketted images,Photomatix 3,2 64bit See Also / Beyond The Sea:
