  • Spotted some horses in a field on the way to work yesterday, the sun was just coming through the mist, had to go turn round and go back to have a look and came away with a couple of nice shots. There was a thick frost on the ground, real crisp winter morning Thanks to Richard Shepherd for the title.

  • The Long Shadows of Winter
    by DawsonImages

    US$4.99–US$133.00

One must suffer for your art correct? Well this might fit, I headed out this cold December dawn a year ago with temps at -5 and windchill at -30. A bit chilly and I learned that if you take a glove and grab a metal tripod leg your hand will stick at least for a few moments. I hope the image was worth it! The frozen surface of Mud Lake just after dawn one cold winter morning. The long shadows of the tree stumps making eerie lines across the ice and skiff of snow on top.

  • Winter Sunset
    by Dennis Gay IPA

    US$17.10–US$456.00

This awesome winter sunset was photographed on Town Beach in Port Macquarie, NSW, Australia. I had been photographing the rocks at the south end of the beach where the light from the setting sun was painting its way across the seascape when I turned around to go back to my car and saw this. How could I resist? If you look closely at the bottom left corner there is the silhouette of an Oyster Catcher walking around the rocks. Enjoy! SUNSETS / (Click the links!) • BETTER VIEWED LARGER Yes it does get cold out west, this shot was taken when the temperature was zero degrees celcius, and that was without windchill. Here the sunrise catches the landscape with recently snow cover. Morning light hits trees in the National Park that surrounds the Historic Gold Mining Village of Hill End 3 1/2 hours drive from Sydney For those visiting Sydney , free some time to travel west of Sydney, you will experience the wonders of National Parks and World Heritage areas, old gold mining towns, old towns . And vineyards and wonderous scenery that is the true Australian landscape. Hill End NSW / In October 1872 the Star of Hope Gold Mining Co. uncovered what was, at the time, the world’s largest specimen of reef gold. ‘Holtermann’s Nugget’, as it was known, weighed 286 kg and measured 150 cm by 66 cm with an average thickness of 10 cm. That week alone, over 700 kilograms of gold were carted / away from Hill End by the gold escort. In all the amount of gold extracted at Hill End was greater than any goldfield in NSW other than Canbelego / VIEW THE HILL END HDR SERIES* / Hill End – HDR Series Series

  • 7am on a winters morning in January 2006. I drove into the street where I worked to find lots of people looking in the direction of the city with their point and shoot cameras, I glanced up in the direction they were looking and the sky was ablaze. I was late into the office because it was a photo oportunity that seldom comes along, out with the tripod, switch camera to remote, set up the exposures and fire away. Totaly awesome and well worth the telling off for being late for work. Who cares when you get a shot like this.
