  • Sunrays spraying through the clouds….lighting up the ocean!!!

  • This image was taken from the balcony of our lovely hotel in the north of Madeira. The sun was setting so beautifully behind the cliffs that line the northern coastline I took quite a few pictures. This is the one I like best. Taken with my old and trusty Minolta Dimage 7Hi. A wallpaper of this image can be found here

  • Here’s another view from a recent trip to Nepal. This shot is also from Nagarkot, like my previous post. Again, the clouds weren’t allowing the magnificent views to be seen, but were creating their own magical sights over the hills below. • I’ve been working on my website and I keep getting sidetracked by finding photos like this one that I’ve never done anything with. I did a bit of work on contrast and just a tad on brightness and then warmed it up just a wee bit. It is probably best viewed large….I hope, lol. / Needless to say, the website still is not finished:) / / /

  • To my dismay, despite the incredible beauty I found in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, February 2009, our resort and beach faced south. Which means that the sunrises and sunsets were to the right and left respectively and hidden by shoreline, trees and other resorts. Although I walked quite a distance on both sides, the sunsets and sunrises were obscured by various things both natural and man-made, and I did have to make the best of it. This shot higlights a unique tower-like roofline on a building and I couldn’t resist the color, silhouettes, or shadows, I only saw one full sunset the night we departed, from the bus, as we left on the way to the airport, and it was indeed a splendid one, a combination of reds, golds, pinks, and oranges, but alas it was the one that got away… Featured in the group The Outsiders, March 2009

  • A typically windy day at Goolwa beach. Kite surfers enjoy the conditions as the sun sends out rays and lines the clouds with silver bands.

  • cycling season is over for me, so there’s more time to head up into the mountains and enjoy the Austrian landscape… so I went for a hike yesterday in the area around Kühtai (Tirol’s highest village at 2.020m) and headed up towards Gaiskogel (2.820m). / it’s not really a hard climb, the first 500m up are fairly easy as the lead along a skiing-slope. only the last part is getting a bit more strenuous, as one has to climb up a steep boulder field. this brings you to the so called Gaiskogelscharte (2.658m) and from there it’s a short way to the Gaiskogel itself. anyway, this pano was taken pretty much halfway between Gaiskogelscharte and Gaiskogel at approx. 2.720m. straight ahead you can see the Rotkogel and the Räuhengrat and looking to the left one can see the Kraspesferner (small glacier) with the Rotgrubenspitze (3.042m). as I was carrying quite some equipment and it was already getting late, I decided to turn around at this point and not continue to the top (appr. another 25min), but instead take a small detour to a reservoir and take some photos there as well…. Canon EOS 40D / Sigma 10-20 EX DC HSM / Hoya ND8 filter / Manfrotto 724B digi 3 shot panorama / each shot exposed at -2,0,2 f/11 / HDR process & tonemapping: Photomatix Pro 3.2.1 / stitch: PTGui location: / 11°03.1687 E / 47°12.1673 N

  • When I was young I used to go camping deep into Algonquin Provincial Park / On the misty late summer morning another camper on the lake would play Tchaikovsky, Piano Concerto No. 1 – Mov 1, Part 1/3 Martha Argerich / To hear such beautiful music echoing through the still lakes! / Such an amazing way to begin a North Woods morning. / This memory has been caught in my mind for many years. / Sunrise late summer, North Woods, Ontario Canada. / Leica V-Lux 1.
