We put our strengths, our resources together. Meld If you notice, one figure wears the mask as if it is her own skin but the other is not so comfortable hiding his true self. There will be comfort but most importantly freedom when these two spirits merge.
She is as vivid in person as she is on the screen. / She’s inspired by my own night time images. Please contact me for postcard offerings as well as the offering of this print from Sundrip.com. SundripJournals@gmail.com
You cannot miss her eyes; they’ll draw you in with their intensity. The Lady of Turquoise is warn and marked by trials and tribulations (for there have been many) but as a true woman of spirit she wears them in a mosaic design of triumph.
This is a very spiritual piece depicting a figure rising in lighting mixed with mist. The figure is surrounded by colours representing all spectrums and levels of self awareness. Painting details: multi-coloured figure wrapped in colour mist, lighting strikes through the image, light beams and clouds of colour surround the figure who is before a vivid red backdrop. One circle of light can be seen around her arm which guides her and supports her. I wish to rise from ruins. / Gather broken pieces, / Shards and shreds long cast off as useless / And create one form worth standing for. / I will rise from rubble / For one great stand / One grand shine. In my true essence / I wish to rise unscathed by imagery and voices / That encourage the lying down of hope. / . / . / . / Poem by F. Magdalene Austin / Copyright © 2007 F. Magdalene
Black is pierced by a stunning ray of bronze, gold and chocolate to announce the center where she stands with her chest up proudly and arms extended in invitation to join the celebration of life. This print is offered on Sundrip.com. You may contact me at / SundripJournals@gmail.com
Mystic Ivy- she does not hide secrets. This woman of mystery withholds her jewels (strength, passion and zeal) for causes and for persons worthy to behold them. Behind the mask is a gift. (One of her eyes is blue, the other is green. The colour difference is not artistic manipulation. Her eyes are really that way.) This print is offered on Sundrip.com. The premise of this painting is that the fairy stands closer to one side than another but her goal is to reach middle ground where rays of light and blessing will reach her. / Many people have black and white thinking. They see things as good or bad with very little gray. The fairy in Sundrip strives to see a rainbow of hues and tones. This painting was inspired by the common thinking pattern known as black and white thinking. I strive to see beyond black and white. I wish to see all hues. This print is also offered on Sundrip.com. She is nature. The dress of this young woman drapes across her and forms a river where a small sprout comes forth. On the sprout is a cardinal, on the limbs of her hair is another. I’m a lover of texture so there’s a lot of that to see as well. Greens and hues of blue are accented by bursts of orange and small dabs of yellow and red. Her face is half concealed, her arms folded around her holding her inner earth steady above the river. On The Eve of Something Beautiful has version one and version two. Displayed in this entry is version two. Please see this link for both paintings. http://www.sundrip.com/2008/09/19/on-the-eve-of-beautiful/ F. Magdalene
I suppose you could say this was an experiment so be gentle with comments. This painting was inspired by a Hallmark presentation called Loving Leah. Leah’s mother said concerning her daughter’s happiness, “A mother is only as happy as her saddest child” This touched me and I knew I had to paint. My goal with this painting was to have a rustic appeal to symbolize the aftermath of hardships. Despite weathering their storms with scars to prove it their bond was unable to corrode or break. Some may be able to see a mother and child in this painting while others might see a woman and her inner child. On a more spiritual level one could see themselves in the arms of the One who loved them first. In all three examples hardships were endured but beauty is untouched. The mother in this version has one small tear in each eye. The child is peaceful. F. Mag
At first glance a young man concluded this painting was about a mother forgiving her young prodigal daughter. I didn’t correct him. This painting shows an older woman embracing her younger self and offering forgiveness for past mistakes and failings. The young self kneels before the older woman and asks for nothing other than a place to lay her head. The older woman who has grown physically and spiritually knows the younger self was caught up in the spring of youth and needs what we all need, a place to rest our transgressions. In the lap of experience the young one is allowed to rest. True story – the names have been changed to protect the unique An older lady lived down the hall from me for years. As a matter of fact she lived in the apartment building the day it opened to the public. Her apartment number matched her date of birth. I figured being a senior citizen she didn’t have much company so I took it upon myself to go visit and check in on her. To my surprise she was quite irritated by me popping in from time to time. It turns out “Mrs. Jones” was raised in a huge family and her children constantly dropped in on her. One day when I came by she opened the door with “Bebop” in her arms and told me not to come back. She said she wanted to enjoy her old age in peace. She slammed the door in my face. I suppose when you have a host of children waiting on you hand in foot, calling you all hours of the day to interrupt your soap operas the last thing you need is some do-good neighbor knocking on your door. On one my many visits when she put up with me I was able to see all her treasures collected over the years. I witnessed the decay of furniture older than me, of mismatched wall paper that covered parts of the wall surely never painted since she moved in. I saw shag green carpet and of course Bebop. for the remainder of this account please see my website at http://www.sundrip.com/2008/08/28/mrs-jones-and-bebop-the-cat/ F. Magdalene
If Inner Peace had a face, a colour, a stance before the sun, surely it would look like this……. Closer observation of the understudy shows long eye lashes, blushed cheeks and carvings on the medallion hearts. There are a total of three hearts in this painting. She Listens To Her Heart was inspired by a pencil sketch. This painting has strong contrasting red and greens with a small floral designs on each of their draped clothes. A small child is wearing blue with green and yellow floral accents.
