  • I love this photo, the way the Sun Bear just walked across and then just sat there, head on arm. Almost human really. This version I’ve cropped vertically to fit better onto greeting cards and things like that.

  • Sunbear - cropped
    by Chris Kettlewell

    US$17.10–US$45.60

I’ve just cropped this version of the Sun Bear photo for those who’d like to get it a little more zoomed in. As I’m new hear, I don’t know if this place allows you to do things like that to the photo if you decide to purchase it, so I thought I’d attach an already cropped image anyway just in case.

  • Food for thought The products of bears are widely valued in traditional Asian medicine and these animals truly suffer in the collection of these products. Some people have suggested trying to change Asian peoples’ belief in the medicinal value of animal parts in order to reduce poaching. Do you think this is the right approach and will this approach be effective if these beliefs are so widely entrenched within the culture? What do you think of the idea of raising Malayan sun bears on farms to provide bile and gall to be used in traditional medicines? There is a growth in the number of organisations seeking to rescue the sunbears and address these issues.
