Lakes entrance is a fishing port and tourist town located on the Southeastern coast of Victoria, Australia. It is near a natual channel which connects the Gippsland Lakes to Bass Straight. The town has been a popular holiday destination for generations of Victorians, yet has managed to retain its smalltown rural charm. Surfing on the nearby Ninety Mile Beach is a popular attraction, as is fishing from the many piers and bridges in the area. Family entertainment such as minigolf and the popular Shell Museum cater to all ages. This sunset was truly one of the most magnificent I’ve ever seen. Everyone in the town stopped to watch the spectacle and I shot many dozens of photos, trying to capture the glorious warm golden light that flooded the river. This is also my most successful attempt at a High Dynamic Range photo. I took three exposures at different settings to try and capture a broader range of detail in the highlights and shadows, and manually merged them together in photoshop.

Crowning Glory!
After 13 days of non stop rain, it was great to see the sun come up this morning. This jetty is about 30 metres from my back fence, so it didn’t require too much effort – just rolled out of bed and stumbled down in my pyjamas : ) / / Blackalls Park / Lake Macquarie NSW Australia

No, this was taken at about 1pm yesterday at Canary Wharf, London. For a couple of minutes the sun was blindingly reflected off the glass in the building.

Neutral Bay with the wharf on the right. Taken facing south towards Sydney Harbour and the city. Oh, btw, this is straight from the camera too, nothing added or subtracted. 2 December 2009 Featured in Going Coastal
This little boat was full of rainwater near Neutral Bay Wharf, Sydney. At least the owner now knows its water tight, even it does look badly beaten.
The people of Narvik were very helpful to English speaking travelers. They had told us about this interesting mail boat run that went out to some little island off the coast of Norway, and youy got off the mail boat there and would have to wait between one half hour to an hour and you could catch a cruise liner which would take us to Trondheim. There were no reservations for the boat and we would have to sit on deck, but it was only a six hour trip, and they strongly recommended it. We had started and had a wonderful time on the mail boat, and this was our view of the changeover point. The weather had become cooler, and the clouds looked heavier, and that wharf was where we would spend the next hour (or more if the cruise ship was late, which they had said never happened). This was the moment of doubt, but we were committed and so we got off. The boat was only about 15 minutes coming and we went on. Taken with Pentax LX camera and 28 mm shift lens on Kodachrome film. The lens had one defect and that was that under these conditions there was a great deal of flare, which altered the colour of all the darker areas of the picture.
Taken on the wharf at Cooktown with no artificial additives – just an increase in contrast to make it stand out more…. Sunset at Cooktown.
