At Day’s End As the sun goes down over the front range mountains of Denver, Colorado, the Sunflowers turn, in anticipation of the sun coming back up in the morning. Photographed in a field where all you can see for miles and miles is Sunflowers….billions of Sunflowers. An entire sea of yellow and gold….caught in my lens for a fleeting instant, where the whole world was at peace…. Captured along the Mount Evans Wilderness in Colorado, this is one of those waterfalls that kind of sneaks up on ya outta the blue, and if you blink, you actually miss it. I really don’t much in the way of long exposure shots, but after being happy with how this one came out, I am going to start doing them more. Hope ya all like it! Wild flowers are everywhere throughout the fields and on the roadsides in Turkey this May! As you can imagine I didn’t get far on my bike… / :) A first macro on a borrowed Nikon coolpix 4800 compact and the step up in quality from my usual Fuji Finepix A500 shows! (I was never able to give it back and came to an amicable arrangement…lol…) Taken on macro setting with selftimer and using a pocket sized 4” tripod.. Straight from the camera apart from slight cropping and a great reminder of the swathes of these beautiful flowers

*Sunflowers and Colorado Sunsets * Revisiting the Sunflower fields I miss so much, a magical place on the eastern plains of Colorado like no where else, a place one day I hope returns. As the front rage of the Colorado Rocky Mountains dances with the setting sun, this scene seemed something out a paradise lost, the kind of thing you only ever read about. On this day when shooting the sunset here, I shot over 400 shots and came back quite a few other times as well. Well worth it I would say! BEST VIEWED FULL SIZE! A beautiful street in Old Corfu Town, Greece, on a wonderfully hot and sleepy afternoon in July of 2005. Looking closely, you can see the tourists heading our way from down the street. Handheld image taken with the Olympus C-5000 zoom on July 27, 2005. Shutter 1/250, aperture f/5.6, exposure 0.00, iso 50. In other words, totally automatic and if I’d had to explain what a shutter speed was in those days, I couldn’t have done it!! This image was put through photoshop to remove distracting electrical lines, then popped into Photomatix, single image at +/- 2 eval.

It was founded in the year 1074 by Archbishop Gebhard of Salzburg and is thus the oldest extant foundation in Styria. The Admont Benedictines attempt to live by the Rule of St. Benedict (“house rules” for a monastic community), which through its breadth and depth has achieved much of important over the centuries and indubitably offers orientation for the future. The rhythm of their life is stamped by prayer, the fulfilment of manifold tasks in pastoral care, education, culture and in social areas and through the personal deepening of their lives. In this God is always the central point. This is especially true of the life style of the Admont Benedictines whereby the church is seen as the centre of the foundation. In addition to serving 26 parishes, the Monastery runs a nursing home in Frauenberg, a secondary school and further businesses which have roughly 500 secular employees. The main cultural attraction of the Monastery is the Baroque library and the new large museum. Nearness to God and the faith that determines the life of the monks can be felt throughout the whole Monastery grounds. This is also true of the library and museum and equally for the gardens around our house. Thus Admont Monastery is a spiritual, cultural and economic centre of important far beyond the region.

Through my cyber travels i have come across many photographers work that has been stolen and used without their knowledge / And just recently i have found a site that tracks back photos and shows where they are being used on the net / http://tineye.com/ / you simply enter the image address (URL) or choose an image from your HD and the site looks for it in their archives / it even works for images that have been cropped after being stolen or partially photoshopped this is a good example / http://tineye.com/search/0ac89241ed4c8ccd104094f6412ded2e0acfc2d7 / The original is the profile pic of someone who friend requested me on Facebook as something seemed odd/funny about it I put the image through Tineye.com / and you can see the results Another image site which you might like (if you use flickr) is / http://clipyourphotos.com/FP / they serch through the Flickr Front page history for your photos that might have been featured there that you missed any way I hope these are useful for people Cheers Richard
