in my lucky life, I’ve been invited to stay on holidays with lovely people who had a place in the hills of Byron. One of the best times of my life. So peaceful.

A Tranquil Evening The world seemed to almost totally stop when I took this, it was a hot evening, I was sweating just about to die, but for a moment, life seemed suspended, all the hustle and bustle disappeared, and the sky went fantastic, as if the Lord above painted something which had never been seen before. For an instant, tranquility, for an instant, serenity, for an instant, the light was to die for. Look closely, take it all in, and you may notice the distant red traffic lights. The building on the left is the old boat house at Washington Park where this was shot at, built around the turn on the century 1900. These days it serves as a place for concerts for classical music, Scottish Bagpipes, and similar sorts of sounds. Examine it close and just take a deep breath. At the very north end of the Grampians the major ranges covered with trees give way to rocky bluffs, caves and some of the best rock climbing anywhere in Australia. Summery Day valley is the ‘entry level’ location here – it’s a series of beautiful cliffs in a horse shoe arena. Always a spot in the sun, always a spot in the shade, 30min walk up to a great camping / sunset spot. Just writing about it makes me long to be there.

Taken tonight at Mindarie. A lovely evening for these guys who were just sitting back chatting. Hope they didnt mind me taking their photo! I went fishing with my brother Michael, he caught 2 fish and put them back, I caught zilch! So started taking photo’s.. This one was on the way back to the car. I was quite happy with the first shot I took, Michael then stood alongside me and gave me instructions to finally get this one! / Im glad he did, I had way to much black in mine! I really like this one, I love the serenity and peacefullness of it – hope you do too :) “AS IS” Straight from my Sony Cyber-shot!

Sutton Bank is a high vantage point at the very edge of the Hambleton Hills and the North York Moors with extensive views over the Vale of York and the Vale of Mowbray. Because of its location and high elevation, Sutton Bank is popular with gliding and flying enthusiasts. Predominant landmarks include Whitestone Cliff and Roulston Scar, the former overlooking the mysterious (and reputedly bottomless !) Lake Gormire. Close nearby are the villages of Sutton-under-Whitestonecliff, and Kilburn (famous for the White Horse of Kilburn, and Robert Thompson – the “Mouseman” of Kilburn). / Sutton Bank is one of the most spectacular inland cliffs anywhere in Britain, and carries one of the most hair-raising main roads in the country. The near vertical drop from top to bottom is around 140 metres, and crosses at least two major geological boundaries. / The Sutton Bank National Park Centre is on the western edge of the fabulous North York Moors National Park – home to the largest expanse of heather moorland in England. The Hole of Horcum is a section of the valley of the Levisham Beck in the North York Moors of northern England, upstream of Levisham and Lockton. The Hole of Horcum is a vast, 400ft deep natural hollow measuring ¾ of a mile across. It has been naturally eroded over thousands of years by the action of springs, though a more romantic legend tells us that it was created when a giant named Wade, who was in fact a Saxon chief, grabbed a ‘handful’ of earth to throw at his wife, Bell – the soil missed its target and landed to form the 800ft high hill of Blakey Topping which lies about a mile to the east.
