This is one wall and minaret of one of the grandest testaments to Islamic architecture. It was completed in 1616 by Sultan Ahmed I. It’s a humbling place despite the crowds.

I think that this one will be great For the resturant / Gods kitchen.. the theme is perfect for that resturant. Acrylic and inks on stretched canvas 1992 / called for the sultans eyes only ..I imagined a secret and royal type middle eastern setting .. and that one of the sultans harem girls had wandered out into maybe a forbidden zone.. there are only certain rooms that the harem girls can go into. ..and certain places not.. / to me this is a real east meets west painting / In my blood runs some middle eastern (lebanese) on my mothers side plus european (scottish and irish )blood on my fathers side .. / some of my work has a real middle eastern / theme or flavour and this is one of them. / $950 au size: 60 and 1/2 cm by 90 cm / This painting has been SOLD..thankyou for your interest . / Linda Ridpath, 8 days ago / this is beautiful, i love the blue colour here!!

So, what do you imagine might happen when a stunning young woman from Texas happens to make the acquaintance of a boastful sultan during a spring break tour of the Far East and challenges him to a few hands of no-limit Texas Hold ‘Em? Well, she wins a palace, that’s what. And in a round of double-or-nothing, his harem as well. Because Amaranth Cody was well brought-up and nothing if not hospitable, she insisted he remain as long as he liked, of course, but insisted that the ladies in his harem be freed, to stay or leave as they wished. Speechless in his fury, the sultan stomped off towards the east (inasmuch as anyone can stomp in sand) and was not heard from again. Should you find yourself in the Far East, be sure to drop by and pay Amaranth a visit, but whatever you do, refrain from challenging her to any card games. Medium: Acrylic Paint on Acrylic Paper / Size: 12” x 16” / Description: Based on the second song from the Tool album 10,000 Days, Jambi was completed in early 2009 and is a loose interpretation on the band’s original meaning of the song. In my piece, I explored the idea of the Third Eye and wanted to twist it a little to give it a darker edge. The Tool song is about a sultan who lives an opulent life style, I wanted to try an depict what would happen to a person of that status if they attained a false sense of enlightenment. If one was to become enlightened, or so it is believed, one’s third eye would open in the center of the forehead. So, if one was to become ill-enlightened (its not a real word but it works) then where would the third eye open? ahem Also added to the fool’s punishment, his real eyes burn out and the eye-tongue causes irreversible madness.
