Medium: Acrylic and Watercolour Paint on Paper / Size: A4 / Description: About an octopus who has developed a suit so that he may walk with the humans. A piece to fulfill my curiosity with octopuses and old looking diving helmets. The character’s odd infatuation with the human race mirrors my own with his species. Completed in 2008. Like all of the work I put on Redbubble. This piece took a long time to finish. I always take my time with important illustrations, especially if I want people to purchase them. The mountains alone took well over 4 hours to complete. I changed them many many times. They could’ve been an illustration by themselves cuz there’s so much detail in them. The idea behind this piece is loosely based on the fact that I never want to give up on my passions in life. Don’t let the fear of failure stop you from pursuing your life’s goals. You don’t want to look back and have regrets. They will haunt you forever….those things you told yourself you always wanted to do will become your ghosts. You cannot run away from your passion/s in life. Further more this illustration is a reminder to me. A personal mission statement built into an illustration. It is me in the illustration…something I never want to become. Drawn on A3 Copy Paper, Colored in Photoshop CS3 with Wacom Detail: /

Taken in the city (Melbourne). This man took a moment to send a message and didn’t even notice the little bird quietly sitting beside him
I took these a tad ‘kitchy’ pictures a while ago in a lane near our house in the fantastic Fitzroy neighbourhood

P/S Retouched by Ange. Digital photograph shot by Jerry Kang in Surry Hills, Sydney, 2007. Model: J.Y. I retouched the eyes (creating deepset cat eyed effect), enhanced lips, defined eyebrows, enhanced cheekbones, airbrushed face & lengthened body. Extended foreground of shot by retouching (the existing foreground) as it was taken tightly cropped to the foot. Added b/w desaturated tone & curve adjustment. Original shot below.
A concept I would love to re-paint some day : } Thank you for viewing~ / Flyk© Sara Wilson
