Mt Warning is part of an mountain range that used to be extinct volcanos. Captain Cook named it as he could see it far out to sea.It rises way above the surrounding flatlands which there are many sugarcan fields. It’s about 1 hour drive from where I live. and it must be the most painted landscape in this area.

This was captured on the Island of Barbados, it is the backyard of my grandmother-in-law. The backyard opens into a tropical garden of fruit and sugarcane.
Captured near Babinda Boulders FNQ just before sunset, freshly planted sugar cane. This was one of the most spectacular lightshows to witness. It was a challenge to capture the range between the highlight and shadows. Camera – Fuji GX617 / Film – Fuji Velvia 100

“On a Wing and a Prayer” Photography & Artwork / by Holly Kempe © A surreal depiction of a lace winged butterfly flying hastily through tall grass heads on its way to a full moon. “My spirit is with you through good times and bad / I share all the joys and the sorrows you’ve had / Feel my presence within your next breath / And realize there’s no distance in death. / Ask for my help and I’ll answer your call / Reach for my hand when you stumble and fall / Run the last mile with a smile on your face / My arms will be waiting when you finish the race / Always remember, my love is right there / In the beat of your heart, On the wing of your prayer.” / ~ Linda Shelburn Reagan
During my holidays in August 2008, I witnessed sugarcane being burnt in Far North Queensland, about an hour north of Cairns… I love the orange glow against the dark of night. Spectular.

The first of a few I took tonight of the sunset over the canfields above the Mulgrave River at Goldsborough, Queensland. This is an exposure blend of 2 frames in Photomatix.
A little HDR work from two exposures. I like the tones in this one. Canefield at Goldsborough near the Mulgrave River, Cairns. Sigma 10-20, Nikon D80 Featured in Queensland on 15 December 2008
Had so much fun down here shooting the sunset. Every minute I took a photo, the sky changed colour dramatically. It’s the effect of being surrounded by the hills and the sunset actually taking quite some time. Also the stormclouds around intensify in colour as they are so high in the sky. This is a shot I took before Pivot decided to sit in on my photos ;) Exposure blending from three frames done in Photomatix.
This stunning sunset shot was taken in June 2008 over the Bundaberg sugarcane fields in North Eastern Australia. The silhouette of the sugar cane tips against the backdrop of the sunset and the menacing cloud formations make this one of my favourites. I have this one printed in triptych on large format canvas on my wall at home. 100 views – June 2009 Olympus E-510 DSLR Shown in triptych on large format canvas below : If you are interested in a triptych, please bubblemail me.
