This is my entry for the Opposites Competition held by the Rusty, Crusty and Falling to Bits Group. It’s a picture of a rusty drain cover (?) and my suede shoes.

This lovely Gypsy took over 20 hours of work between cutting fabric, machine sewing the body and most of the clothes, hand-sewing various other parts, and adding trims, hair, and facial features. Her skin, hair, and shoes are made from non-fraying, slightly fuzzy buttersuede fabric. Her purple belly-baring shirt was hand-sewn and embellished from purple knit fabric with gold metallic thread, gold trim, and gold beads. Her skirt is made from a satiny yellow-red-orange fabric that has french seams to protect it from fraying, and has been trimmed at the top with gold hand-sewn trim to keep the fabric from fraying as well. She is embellished with various glass and plastic beads in golds and reds. Her skirt has three brass bells on one side (kind of covered by the shirt, unfortunately) that jingle quite nicely when the plushie is moved. On the opposite side is a gold tassel and a large silver charm in an oval shape. On the back of her purple shirt are five white rhinestones in a cute little pattern- just to add some fun sparkle when you lift her hair. Her red headscarf has white, red, and blue rhinestones adorning it, as well as a bit of black trim around the back to add sparkle to her hair. The plushie’s face was painted on with acrylic paints. Her eyes are a beautiful deep purple that really can’t be done much justice with these photos. The face of this plushie is one of my favorite of the ones I have done so far! I think her expression is completely endearing, and a little mischievous too!
