Looking for a ‘check list’ or ‘running sheet’ for your next exhibition? Thanks to the power of google.com, and a spare hour on a Saturday afternoon of sporadic rain, I found a few PDF’s that should help you: Events Management Check List ... I really like this one! It’s comprehensive, has tick-boxes, and could easily be modified to suit any type of event. Running, Promoting and Organsing your Event / ... Page 1 to 17 have great information on setting up and ensuring your t’s are crossed and i’s are dotted. Page 18 to 20 are the pages you want to print! Club/Association Management Program / ... This is a most extensive booklet (36 pages) outlining EVERYTHING about exhibition running. Whilst it is aimed at sport clubs, the information is easily transferable to anyone’s exhibition. Page 19 says … / ” It is essential that an event has an evaluation process that is more than simply monitoring the planning and implementation. Evaluation should be carried out through the life of the event as well as at the end. Information recorded from monitoring provides a record and can be kept as a historical record for events that are held regularly. Criteria for success, and methods for measuring those criteria, need to be set when the event is first planned. Measures depend on the important questions to be answered. Questions may have to do with attendances, quality of staff, revenue, public opinion and press coverage. Methods for obtaining the information needed to answer the questions might include statistics for attendance, questionnaires from participants and spectators, and financial records. “ Survival Guide to Event Management / ... Another long-winded yet comprehensive (56 page) PDF that has a lot of useful information. Visit these pages for the details you really want: 9, 16, 24, 27, 32, 36-37. But you MUST read every other page in conjunction to get an overall and complete view of how to run your exhibition properly and successfully! Submission form for Major Events / Activities in Adelaide / ... Maybe your exhibition is SOOOO BIG that you need to fill this in. Event Guidelines / ... This could easily have been ripped off from any one of the suggested PDF’s above, but it still has some interesting information. You’ll want pages 21 to 24.

Discourse and the unexpected

As many of you may or may not know, in addition to my degrees in science I hold a BA in Philosophy, and I am alaways trying to join appropriate literary quotes with my journal posting when it is deemed proper. So in the spirit of joining my artistic journal with some philosophical wisdom, I want to start the rest of this journal posting with the following quotation from the Famous English Philosopher John Locke (English philosopher, 1632-1704) – “There is frequently more to be learned from the unexpected questions of a child than the discourses of men.” Well said dear John, and everyone here at the bubble knows all too well how much discourse I have had in the past few weeks. I have even many times behaved as a spoiled rotten child who would not stop touching their sibling, even after the parental units had warned several times of possible groundings and timeouts! So as many know I would proceed to offload my work, whine and threaten that I won’t stay a couple of times, but I literally have received hundreds of emails and bubblemails, not to mention the huge public outpouring of support in other Redbubble locations like journals and forum threads and various works of art…...and so what is my point…...my point is that the encouragement, Redbubble brand of love and support, and the faith in my personal integrity by more friends than I can count has all made up my mind for me that there is absolutely no reason for me to feel I need to go nor need I be ashamed of standing up for my ideals and the stanchion of truth, honesty and the pursuit of a community where these traits are fostered by all involved. I really like the following quote, and I think it really hits home for me today of all days: All the water in the world, however hard it tries, can never sink the / smallest ship unless it gets inside, and all the evil in the world, the / blackest kind of sin, can never hurt you in the least, unless you let it in. Anonymous I lost my head many times in fits of reactionary actions over the past few weeks, and all along I should have let Redbubble do their thing. Peter and his staff have it all under control, and much like ones tax returns things never go as swiftly for an individual as one would like in the business world. Peter only wants the truth, fairness to all deserving of it, and the Redbubble image to remain free of controversy and deception on our part. I am all for that, and I should have more faith in Peter and RB because they did their job and they did it quite well. Now I am going on and on and digressing a bit, and i need to come back round the other side to the BEST reason for this post! Somehow, throughout all of my ups and downs, taking work off and putting work back on, I was DISCOVERED by an interior designer in New York looking to adorn the walls of a pediatricians office with some lovely and colorful artwork. Somehow, by hook or by crook, she came across some of my work and we started talking. Long story short, thanks to my work here on display at Redbubble, thats right, here in the Lion’s Den, I just closed the largest single sale I have had in 2+ years! How unexpected is that! The designer purchased 7 different images at $300 per, and they will be blown up to somewhere between 2’ x 3’ and 2’ x 4’ and placed on the wall of Rye Brook Pediatric Associates, Rye Ridge Plaza, Rye Brook New York. If anyone who reads this is somewhat local to that area of New York state please by all means go by for a visit and tell me how they look! The following are the images that are going up on the wall even as we speak: TILT / / POETRY IN MOTION / / STRIPES / / BLENDED / / TROPICAL / / BASHFUL / / and OOPS / I mean I was literally blown away, and I owe it all to Redbubble friends and members who stuck it out with me through these times of trial and tribulation. So in a more concise way, I just want to say thank you friends, because of you not only have I not left a community that is forgiving and embraces those who get hammered on when the chips seem down, but you also helped my wife and I out in a time of tremendous economic uncertainty in America. I won’t go on with all the sappy stuff, but I easily could. SO I AM STAYING THANKS TO YOU FRIENDS Bless you all, and I hope that my unexpected success thanks to all of you in a time of great uncertainty will help those in the future who may be in doubt of what to do or are bogged down in things they have little control over. I wouldn’t do anything different except to let Peter and Redbubble take the reins from the get go no matter how long their professional and sound process took, it is really the best way! Have a great week! And thank you all for commenting on my recent uploads, and I guess I need to get these that I sold loaded back since they appeal to someone out there!

In this painting I have endeavored to reduce the landscape down to its absolute minimum, focusing purely on the line of salt-bush on the horizon, with one solitary bird hovering in the air, to give the impression of the raw empty heat of a mid day summer where nothing stirs until l the cool of the evening. . . The Big 30! Today
by Carrie Glenn/ *The Big 30…30,000 views!!! WOW! I’m feeling old!...
/ The Big 30…30,000 views!!! WOW! I’m feeling old! LOL! No really, it’s great…no actually it’s fantastic! Thank you to each and every one who has become a part of my life, my views and even my artwork itself. Here are some of my favorite highlights since the last ten thousand miles… The biggest news I probably have to announce is the publishing of my artwork in “Artists of The West” book! It is a true milestone for me and a great personal success. It was an amazing project to be involved in and over a three year journey. I ended up making some great friends and contacts along the way and really bonded with everyone involved in the book. / After the release of the book there was some really exciting events to follow like the first book signing in St. Helens with the official release. / I am also doing a public book signing, autographs and a special unveiling of three of my new paintings at the Astoria Sunday Market later this month. The Astoria Sunday Market / / (Feel free to shoot me an e-mail if you’re interested or would like more information on the event) Also I am VERY excited to be a part of the RedBubble Rialto Towers art exhibit ironically also on July 27th the same date of my book signing in Astoria, Oregon! My work First Tree was chosen along with 40 other works of art to show in the foyer of the Rialto Towers for a two week art show! I am honored and thrilled to be showing my work alongside the other amazing artists and my RedBubble friends! I was also a part of some wonderful collaborations My collaboration piece Through The Past To The Future with my friend Michael Gatch was a total success and incredibly fun! It was inspired by his photo Through The Past / We had such a good time we did another one… / Apple Harvest which was inspired by Michael’s photo Old Apple When I looked at this work I saw the tree as the point of life that was celebrated and brought people and family together. I wanted to I take it back in time or to another time perhaps. I also had a fantastic collaboration with my dear friend Paul Hobday / I was really inspired by his photo Twisted and had a vision of what eventually became…The Other Side Of The Fence my newest work. Again THANK YOU to each of you who took the time to view my work, comment on my work and invest into me and my career. My art work is the road in this life that I have chosen to make a living on and really…it is my life. In each painting or drawing I create I try to leave a bit of myself to be shared with another person. / Thank you so much for supporting and embracing me and one of my true loves…art!

I was walking along my local street in NYC when I detected some water droplets. I knew it wasn’t raining—and so I looked up to see this window washer. I suppose this shot could also subliminally imply the reaching for higher ground or the goal of taking on the ladder to success. It inspires…yes?

January 29, 1944 / Returning from a raid on the Frankfurt marshalling yards. Flak was especially heavy and accurate, saw several ships peel out of formation with extensive damage. 2 ships collided during a head-on ME-109 attack, counted only 7 chutes. We’re heading home into a beautiful golden sunset, the ship directly in front of us has left wing damage and it’s landing gear partially torn off. It’s gonna be a rough one for them … Lead is just turning right to indicate final approach, looks like we made it through another one.
