  • This is my little girl. She was just a few weeks old when this was taken. It was Halloween, and she was dressed as, and slept like an angel. It was the only chance I got to have her still…it was glorious to watch her.

  • It is not in life, but in art that self-fulfillment is to be found. / – George E. Woodberry The Untapped Source Store – Portfolio/Blog – deviantART Shop / “To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong.”

  • this morning after the rain reminded me of this verse .

  • “It’s all fun and games until someone loses an I” / Then it gets simply hilarious… I think I’ll make a T-shirt motive out of it too. Plus several with individual “expressions”. Let me know if you would prefer a version without the subs – giving freedom of interpretation by oneself, perhaps. It is a pretty large composite of 6 photos – even though I reduced the size to 5200×5200 just to be able to work on that on my piece of junk…

  • As we look at the scene before us, we see many lights in the sky. / And since man first walked upon this Earth, he as always wondered what they were, those lights in the night sky. / Has he became more aware through technological advances, he sort of understood what they could be. / And even to this day he still wonders, what hides in the great blue yonder. It draws us forever to explore the vast unseen, we know the substance of it, its there before our eyes. / But what do those lights in the sky really hide from our eyes. They hide the….... Substance – of things not seen This is my entry into the challenge ” The Substance of things not seen” And of course for me it would be about the void beyond this Earth. And featured in *First Things / and Images & Ideas

  • RB’s challenge “Substance of things not seen” inspired many questions of how to convey and/or observe what we cannot see, let alone create a piece of art. / Then, while listening to our CD player shuffle, this song played…Colors of the Wind / You think you own whatever land you land on / Earth is just a dead thing you can claim / But I know every rock and tree and creature / Has a life, has a spirit, has a name / You think the only people who are people / Are the people who look and think like you / But if you walk the footsteps of a stranger / You learn things you never knew / You never knew / Have you ever heard the wolf cry to the blue corn moon? / Or ask the grinning bobcat why he grinned / Can you sing with all the voices of the mountains? / Can you paint with all the colors of the wind? / Can you paint with all the colors of the wind? / Come run the hidden pine trails of the forest / Come taste the sun-sweet berries of the earth / Come roll in all the riches all around you / And for once never wonder what they’re worth / The rainstorm and the river are my brothers / And the heron and the otter are my friends / And we are all connected to each other / In a circle in a hoop that never ends / Have you ever heard the wolf cry to the blue corn moon? / or let the eagle tell you where hes been / can you sing with all the voices of the mountain / can you paint with all the colors of the wind / can you paint with all the colors of the wind / How high does the sycamore grow / If you cut it down, then you’ll never know / And you’ll never hear the wolf cry to the blue corn moon / For whether we are white or copper – skinned / We just sing with all the voices of the mountain / Need to paint with all the colors of the wind / You can own the earth and still / All you’ll own is earth until / You can paint with all colors of the wind. Not leaving well enough alone, I ventured into googling and found an amazing photograph (hven.swarthmore.edu) of a Wind Bubble and began searching more of the Stellar Winds ~ this all seemed to fit, so I sketched a female figure being blown by the wind and layered it atop the Wind Bubble, editing a little more with the Redfield fractilius plug-in to bring the force of the wind alive with evidence of its power, though unseen… “Thought is the Wind, knowledge the sail, and mankind the vessel. ” August Hare

  • Featured in THE SISTERHOOD / Featured in The Patchwork This image was created for the Substance of Things Not Seen challenge. Basically this is an image of my inner most feelings. It’s the way I’ve felt all my life…trying to get through one day to the other while suffering through depressive states. It’s become easier to cope with, but I still have points where life bores me and saddens me and I find it hard to get through. The eyes are a self portrait that I have edited. All images were taken by me and edited by me. Depression is something that can’t be really and truly seen, only felt. I tried to portray what it feels like…a mixture of confusion and thoughts of not being good enough…wanting something different…something that can never be achieved…and just being confused… This is also an homage to Tegan and Sara and their song Dark come soon which I have taken the lyrics from. Enjoy.

  • Over the next couple of weeks, I thought I’d share some of the reasons I take pictures. This is one of the reasons: philosophy aside, it’s nice to be reminded that we have substance and that it’s part of the world, even if it shows up as a shadow sometimes. I shot this yesterday with my little Nikon Coolpix and edited the image in Preview /
