This image was taken in the Crystal Caves in Bermuda. The little boat docked in the waters deep in the cave reminded me of the stories from Greek Mythology of the River Styx. Charon, the Ferryman would grant passage if proper payment was made while the river itself was said to bubble with fire. / Needless to say…it was dark down there and I was having a hard time with exposure. I kind of like the effect though:) The light in the boat looks like a patient soul.

This tree was the site of the Global Rescue Station in the Styx Valley, Tasmania. The Global Rescue Station aimed to preserve the remaining old-growth forest from clear-felling and wood-chipping. Tasmania’s old-growth forests are still being cut down at an unprecedented rate.
