  • Glazier Apply Within
    by Richard Shepherd

    US$3.99–US$91.20

Most of the windows in this place were either cracked, broken or completely removed. It made for some eerie nosies when walking about in the place with the wind rattling through and the curtains flapping about etc.

  • Striking artistic representation of how the flow of technology advances is viewed by the artistic mind. The view is horrible and huge.

  • The Way to School
    by Richard Shepherd

    US$3.99–US$91.20

This is the view walking up the main driveway of this abandoned boarding school, i wonder how many kids were unhappy to be taken along this route and left by their parents at the start of the term.

  • The Gift of Learning
    by Pip Gerard

    US$4.49–US$102.60

I was watching the movie “The Ultimate Gift” listening to the character played by James Garner talking to his grandson when he said… ‘Learning is a gift… even if pain is your teacher”. As soon as the words had finished coming out of his mouth I honestly said out loud – YES!! Immediately I was blown away by the quote and I wrote it down and thought about its meaning for weeks. I’ve never felt so affected by a sentence before. Upon reflecting this quote I found quite confronting to realise that I spent my twenties doing everything to avoid and “run away” from my emotional pain.. Now in my 30s I’ve realised that pain was essential for me to be a more caring, less-judgemental and forgiving person. Pain seems to show us the truth in others… the truth that all people, no matter what’s on the outside… have a heart capable of breaking on the inside. It gives me great comfort that I can now view the grief of my brothers death as somewhat of a gift to me – rather than nothing but a loss FEATURED IN Prize Challenges GROUP / FEATURED IN Creative Inspirations / FEATURED IN YOU’RE ACCEPTED GROUP / FEATURED IN FIRST THINGS GROUP / FEATURED IN TYPOGRAPHY GROUP t-shirt available .

    by Garth Horsfield

    US$4.32–US$98.80

Probably one of the oldest artworks I’ve got up here… done in my second year of uni. Just three of my mates. But this is uniquely one of only 3 actual oil paintings I’ve ever done, on masonite. I always found oils difficult and still do, hence the fussy detail and lack of confidence with the medium. But I intend to have another go this year, maybe on a larger canvas.

  • Student Life
    by Ine Spee

    US$3.99–US$91.20

Just a quick in between thing again. This basically shows what I’m going through right now. Except I’m not a guy. And I actually study on my bed, on the couch, in the living room… =P But yes, this is the student life, at least during exam period. Pencil drawing. Background and textures added in Photoshop, as well as the slight shading. Colours appear a bit different here (less red) than they did in Photoshop, but oh well. =)

Taken at Wat Rakhang in Bangkok, Thailand. This temple is a little more obscure in terms of tourist attractions but what attracted me to it was the fact that it apparently had a nice collection of bells. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the temple itself was surrounded by these small chimes that rang with the waving of the wind. Even more pleasantly surprised was I when I realized that there was a class being held in the temple. What caught my eye was the traditional tattoo on the younger monks shoulder. This image was taken on the Berry College campus in Rome, Georgia. The Berry campus is the largest campus in the world at nearly 30,000 acres. It consists of fields and forest and mountains lands which have designated portions open to the public for hiking, cycling, horse back riding, and other outdoor activities. The large deer population is reputed to outnumber the students by eight to one! About half the campus is a wildlife refuge where no hunting is allowed. The other half (almost 16,000 acres) is managed by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources where hunts are managed in an attempt to control the deer population and provide recreational opportunities within department regulations. With a permit fishing is allowed on some of the campus lakes and streams. Other wildlife often seen on campus are wild turkeys, seasonal ducks and geese, skunks, and squirrels. Please don’t copy or download this image. My photos may NOT be reproduced and/or used in any form without my written permission. If you want this photograph, I would be honored for you to purchase it. ©2008 Patricia Montgomery | Bucks Mountain Galleries | All rights reserved.
