a man on a donkey / rides through our city / enters like a king / and everyone cheers Hosanna! / Hosanna! / Praise to the King
This was written to accompany a photo I took, which I called stripes, for that is what I could see through this macro of a palm leaf. It was an accident, or so I thought, when first I saw it. / But then I realised it was no coincidence, but a God-incidence! / And the very title was likewise ~ the double meaning didn’t occur to me at first, until the poem was being written.
When under the ray of a single bulb / A stripe of light lays along her cheek
a reunion with an old friend stirs me.
