The Awesome Tiger…...... The tiger is the largest of all the cats. Sadly, this magnificent animal has been hunted by humans and has lost much of its habitat. Three of the eight subspecies have already become extinct, and other populations are also at high risk. The Chinese tiger and the Siberian tiger are under extreme threat of extinction. No two tigers have the same stripe pattern – each is unique, like human fingerprints. Tiger stripe patterns commonly differ between the two sides of an individual’s body. Their main prey species are large animals such as deer, buffalo and wild pigs, but they will also hunt fish, monkeys, birds, reptiles and sometimes even baby elephants. Occasionally, tigers kill leopards, bears and other tigers.

I don’t often take photos of spiders, being one of the few bugs I prefer to keep at a distance, but this one I couldn’t resist. Obviously the eating has been good this summer as he was a giant. As they live through the autumn, I’m looking forward to seeing just how large he can get, though it will probably be from a distance …....
