Quiet, calm night then boom! Out of the top of the thunderstorm streams a big positive strike – shooting first upwards the pull of the earth wins and it slams down with incredible power. The most dangerous of lightning.

Shot from the balcony of my old apartment in North Sydney during a particularly exciting electrical storm last year. / I was lucky enough to catch this water strike just out of Double Bay as it hit. It has been cropped and the noise softened a little.

During a severe storm in Santa Maria, California, USA. The coverage of these bolts stretch for miles. On the left is Orcutt, California and on the right is the Santa Maria Valley with Guadalupe, California being struck. Hence the name “Striking Guadalupe”. During a thunder storm in Santa Maria, California, USA. This storm did not produce as much lightning as seen in my other shots but I was happy that I captured this beautiful single stroke of lightning. This was taken with a 30 second exposure set to f/22 at 24mm with an ISO setting of 200.

On the 18th of November 2007 a nice little storm rolled in about 3am. Quite frequent Cg’s pulsating out of the storm. Was to tired to go out into the open fields so settled with a different approach and took some photo’s through the trees. This photo made front page new in the following day’s local paper, Bendigo Advertiser.
