  • This photo was taken in downtown Cedarburg, WI. The entire city is nostalgic and been kept in great shape. When walking through the city of Cedarburg, aside from all the cars and people on cell phones, you feel like you have taken a small step back in time. There are other photos in my portfolio taken from the streets of Cedarburg. I hope you enjoy them. / / Please View Larger

I used to go to a disco in this street many moons ago. I wondered whether it was through that doorway and downstairs to the basement. I remember seeing Stevie Wright’s band play there. Maybe someone could enlighten me on where it was. The street has changed so much over the years but was always interesting. I remember a great cake shop with Viennese style cakes and a place that I could buy vegetarian food-that was in the late sixties-for those who remember. ha ha ha! Later CAE art classes with Mirka Mora when I took my son to ‘cause he didn’t want to go to school that day. I’m sure he learned more there that day than he would have at school. My mother and grandmother (and I suppose great-grandmother) always had a love of the little lanes and streets of Melbourne and we would always walk up Degraves street and cross Flinders Lane meander through Block Arcade on our way to the ‘must see’ Royal Arcade to look at Gog and Magog with the clock. Then off the gallery that used to be housed along with the museum in the State Library of Victoria building. Yesterday to continue that tradition I took my grandaughter through these streets and then we went to the galleries at Fed Square and then St Kilda road. At 3 and a half – she loved those places as I’ve no doubt that Melbourne is singing in her blood. The family has been here since 1856! Looks like we are here to stay!!!

  • An early Summer’s morning on the main promenade in the Old Town of Dubrovnik. Dubrovnik Old Town, has been listed since 1979 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The image was taken just at the Southern end of Stradun looking North. On the right you can see the ornate Renaissance columns and archways of the Sponza Palace, while opposite on the left you get a partial view of the Baroque St.Blaise’s church under repairs behind scaffholding. There are two people standing at the flagpole off-centre, which is actually Orlando’s column. It is Summer, so the Libertas red and white festival flag is hoisted, otherwise the Croatain flag is in its place. Stradun extends forward lined by the rows of houses, boutiques and restaurants. Tourists are hauling their wheeled luggage down the street(the Old Town is exclusively pedestrian only). In the distance is the 1424 church spire of the famous Fransiscan monastery and which houses one of Europe’s first apothecaries founded in 1397. / MANY THANKS FOR THE FEATURES: /

  • A unique feature of many regions in Pakistan is their elaborately decorated, colorful buses and trucks. It is fascinating how ordinary things are transformed towards status symbols and showpieces, providing brightness in an otherwise stark environment and society. This was taken in Karachi, fresh after a thunderstorm. / FEATURED in This is Relevant Group 17/10/2009 / TOP 10 in Mood & Ambience Group “Outdoor Art” Challenge / FEATURED in Travel and Adventure Group 03/11/2009 / 4th PLACE True Colors of Asia Group “Transport in Asia” Challenge / FEATURED in True Colors of Asia Group 05/12/2009
