I’m a Pepsi drinker…but couldn’t pass up this shot. / I’ve had a few requests for sales on this one… / Sorry…RedBubble says “NO!”
A wonderful little store full of nostalgia, tucked away in quiet little town. / I could look at the pictures and signs for hours here.
Like waiting for judgement say, there they stood, in all their glory….40s era Fords, Oldsmobile’s, Pontiac’s, Chevy’s….awaiting the rodders touch to be sculptured in lead, and reincarnated into a new life as a hotrod. Sadly, as much as I love this place, it is now forever gone. I did many shoots at Classical Gas in Eaton, Colorado….and now it is just a memory….it is forever closed as the owner has recently passed away. I was lucky enough to have been here as often as I could…preserving it forever with my camera. And while it is an older shot, it seems just like yesterday I was standing there taking this….time stands still…...much as it did for the classic 40s Detroit iron….... Thoughts welcomed, print to come. Processed with PS, DCE HDR, and LucisArt. —-—-—-—-— See more on my website jdebordphoto.com

It was high time for a little Hot Rod action. The original shoot was at a local drive in on Route 66 in Springfield, MO. I pictured this old Ford dropping the hammer and flying down old Route 66 headed for Devil’s Elbow, MO. True…look it up :) In case you need a littleRockabilly while you view! Last Chance for gas before we cross the desert on Route 66. Come Go With Me
Part of my Rod’s & Relics calendar, based on my photo shoot in Springfield, MO on Route 66. A ‘55 Chevy BelAire leaving the Blue Swallow on Route 66. / The Blue Swallow Motel was built in 1939 by W. A. Huggins. It features a unique, personal shell design on the exterior stucco. Garages, a signature of motor courts of the era, are another unique characteristic of this motel. According to Huggins’ son, Phares, it was sold at a loss because of economic conditions at the onset of WWII. With gas and tire rationing in effect, people weren’t traveling as much. / The best known proprietor of the Blue Swallow was Lillian Redman, who acquired it in 1958. She operated the motel for almost 40 years, facing numerous difficulties including the interstate bypass, which drastically reduced her customer base. Get Your Kicks
