With 6277 views 71 favouritings and 3 sales, this is probably by far my most popular image: / I shot it on my first digital camera, a Canon Powershot S80 compact in the main street of Kempsey NSW on a particularly trying road trip for work. It was a lucky shot, I just thought the billboard was a fairly self-reflexive thing to find in a rundown country town, but when this dejected guy limped into the shot it made it into a poignant statement. Having moved on in the equipment and (hopefully) skills aspects of my photographic practice due mainly to the encouragement I received here in the early days, I often look back at this image and see things I could improve with it. One of the assignments for a course I am doing is to convert an RGB image to greyscale. I’ve applied noise reduction, and unsharp mask, then tonal and exposure adjustments in the green channel. After converting to greyscale, I’ve despeckled it a bit and clone stamped out any larger specks that stand out more in greyscale. I’ve also cropped it a bit tighter and increased the resolution by decreasing the image size rather than interpolating. Wow, that was boring. This shot was taken in Copacabana in 2006, a little town in the north of Bolivia, situated on the bank of Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world at 3800 mts. / There was a big celebration in town that day and so much to see and discover. But I was so tired that I decided to sit down and rest for a while when those two men sat just in front of me. I took so many pictures of them but this one is my favorite. Click /

(having only been to the US thrice i still find steam rising from the vents in the street most evocative, the locals probably find it annoying)

3000+ views, 33 faves. This is one of my favourite shots taken on black and white film and taken in St Mark’s Square in Venice, Italy. I have scanned the print. I like the timelessness of this shot and the sense of innocence. She was surrounded by the pigeons at first and she didn’t mind. But later, one flew on her head and she minded a lot. I recently made a sale on redbubble with this shot. A matted print in Off White to Lucy, my sister-in-law, in the UK. Many thanks so much for purchasing this. This stencil was created in early 2008 inspired by fashion photography and damp cold London. Recently cut stencil with one layer from an older stencil of a zebra in pink on her dress, with hand drawn cobbled stones. The canvas itself is 3 times in length this is just a mere snap shot of the original piece.
