  • A Light Unto My Path My Magical Place / Captured in Plymbridge Woods Dartmoor. / Camera: Nikon D40×18-55mm Kit Lense. Recently Featured in / / A Place Called Home Though I come from Scotland, I’m most at home on the riverbank. I just love places like this in Devon UK, where you can walk peacefully along, listening to the birds and the rippling of the water, the magical light as it streams through the leaves and lights just a small portion of your pathway. Amazing sounds and smells too, especially after rain on a warm day. So earthy…. Yes, I feel at home along the riverbank:-) Sold A Card on Wed 22nd of April 2009. After an operation to remove skin cancer from my forehead. Ouch! that was really painful, but the sale brought a smile to my face, and that hurt again:-) LOL. Thanks to the kind person who purchased it. If you let me know, I’ll put a link in here. Bless you whoever you are. Regards, Don. Captured in Plymbridge Woods Dartmoor, near Plymouth, Devon. / / This picture is one is a series looking at light and shade. I love the way the light shines on the pathway by the riverside and in the distant trees. It reminded me of how God directs us through life, He chooses not to illuminate the whole of our lives, but to direct us little by little bit by bit, so that our trust in in Him alone. The verse of Scripture that sprang to mind was, “Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path”. You can trust God’s Word to guide you through life. Hope you enjoy; A Light unto my path.

  • “Clouds on the Water, Fire Near the Sky” / Purchase a Mouse Pad of this image I happened onto this gorgeous sunrise over the White River at a time when the water was at its lowest. I was delighted to catch the calm surface for reflections, as the low rising sun was casting its first orange glow over the autumn colors.

  • Best view larger. NOTE: Rainbow Waterfalls was nominated to the Pay It Forward group by Kathy S Gillentine and here is what she had to say: ”I want to nominate bigd / He has a great eye for photography. He has allowed to ask me how to do things if he’s not sure ,then he helps me find the way. Big D has been a true inspiration to me ,not only by his work but by his kindness to help me when I need help. His images are beautiful and well thought out. Take the time to look through his extensive portfolio and be inspired by his work.” Kathy S Gillentine It’s a huge surprise and thanks Kathy. Taken at Watkins Glen State Park on 10/31/2008 in the town of Watkins Glen. I changed the background because it was too busy with trees and harsh light. A Canon Rebel XTi camera and edited in PS. • Went hiking/snowshoeing this weekend as the weather was actually good for the first time in a while and we decided to hit up Garibaldi Lake Provincial park which is just about 20 km south of where we live here in Whistler. All to say, it’s a 9km hike up to the lake which is located at 1400meters. Return trip and total hike is about 20 km and took us 7 hours but what a sight. The snow level was only starting at around 1100 meters and once at the top, we only had about 40cm of snow, great thing we had the snowshoes / This shot was taken at the exit of the lake at the top of the hike with the rivers flowing out towards the water. / My 3rd attempt @ HDR, still trying to figure out what works and what doesn’t with this kind of photos. / Canon XT, Sigma 17-35mm , 3 images used to create this

  • This dreamy glade in Pisgah National Forest, Western North Carolina, gave me the feeling of being in two worlds at once – the “normal” world we live in and also a world filled with faeries, gnomes and is that a troll hiding in the forest?? I added the Orton effect with PhotoShop to give it an even more dream-like quality and enhanced the colors. This was taken in the early morning hours just after the sun rose. • Laukaa, Finland.

  • A ‘burn’ is the Scottish Highland name for a stream, creek or beck. On my walk through the forest, I spotted a broken branch of Rowan, with its lovely Autumnal reds, and placed it on the ledge next to the miniature waterfall. A still – life of Nature. / The water was coloured with the peat that it picks up as it flows through the hillside. / All that was missing were the fairies ! I deliberately blurred the water, using f22 on my Canon EOS 40D, mounted securely on my tripod, fitted with a polarising filter to reduce the light still further ( it was quite low light under the canopy of trees). The shutter speed was 15 seconds ! I used my Tamron 28-300mm lens set at 135mm, iso 100, cloudy wb, RAW file Processed in PS CS3. Most of my processing is done in Adobe Camera Raw. I applied selective curves/levels adjustments, selective colour, and sharpened with Intellisharpen.
