  • Pine Creek, Zion National Park, Utah. My conscious goal with this image was to simplify the composition.

  • Best viewed large. / Shot in a small stream in Royal National Park just south of Sydney Australia. / The blueness of this shot is a mystery to me. I’ve noticed that if you shoot moving water just after sunset it does tend to bring out the blue wavelength, especially if you use a polarising filter oddly enough. But I’ve never got this intensity of blue since. I made some adjustments to the curves and levels in PS to accentuate contrast a little but there is no colour manipulation to the water – this is how it came out! The only thing I can think of is that for some reason at that particular time and the particular angle I was taking this shot the auto colour balance in the camera was fooled into boosting the blue wavelength but this still doesn’t make much sense to me. Any other suggestions (short of radioactive material being poured in the water upstream lol)? I’ve actually got some even bluer than this but, quite frankly, they look so over the top it looks like I went nuts with PS so I haven’t posted them. / Shooting info as follows: / Tv 6 secs / Av f29 / ISO 200 / FL 70mm

  • As the water passes by me so does the Autumn season. By the time I am able to return to this spot the colors will have mostly been blown unto the winds. Seasons pass so quickly, much as our lives if we live for today and not for eternity. I am honored to have to selected as members all time favorite by Global Photo’s.”All his work is outstanding and showcases the very best nature has to offer. Was very hard to select just one. Have chosen this one because it is simply stunning. Gorgeous colours, lush greens and perfect exposure :))” http://www.redbubble.com/people/globalphotos

  • A kind of surreal image of a stream in the winter with a few ps adjustments to give it that surreal look of an image in a dream. • ~ Historic War Eagle Mills ~ A fascinating and nostalgic historic site / nestled in the rolling Ozark hills of Northwest / Arkansas, War Eagle Mill is one of the many / picturesque places in the Natural State. I remember riding in the back of the truck, as my daddy took a load of corn to this mill to have it ground, and I remember all those hot pans of cornbread my momma used to cook with that huge pot of brown beans…...boy things have sure changed today!! / You can get a great bowl of beans while visiting this mill, they have a really great restaurant, but I have to say I do not think I have ever tasted a bean like my momma cooked. /

  • Featured in Focus and Lighting October 2009 / Reflections at Buttermere in the lakes shot while on a recent visit with my bubblefriends Steve Smith and LesleyG. / Here is some info of the small lake courtesy of Wikipedia: Buttermere is a lake in the English Lake District in North West England. Historically within Cumberland, it is 1.25 miles (2,010 m) by 0.25 miles (400 m) wide, and is 75 feet (23 m) deep. It has an elevation above sea level of 329 feet (100 m). A place of considerable scenic value, it is situated towards the head of the valley of the River Cocker and is surrounded by fells, notably the High Stile range to the south west, Robinson to the north east, Fleetwith Pike and Haystacks to the south east and Grasmoor to the north west. The village of Buttermere stands at the north western end of the lake, and beyond this is Buttermere’s twin, Crummock Water. There is a path around the lake which is about 4.5 miles (7.2 km) long, and at one point runs through a rock tunnel beneath the locality of Hasness. Access is by road, from Cockermouth in the north west; from Borrowdale via the Honister Pass; or from Braithwaite and the Newlands Valley via Newlands Hause. The lake is owned by the National Trust and is part of the National Trust property called Buttermere and Ennerdale. Shot with a NIkon D300 and Sigma 10-20mm lens / f16 / 1/10sec / ISO200 / Focal length 10mm /

  • The Rappahannock River is a river in eastern Virginia, in the United States, approximately 184 miles (294 kilometres) in length. It traverses the entire northern part of the state, from the Blue Ridge Mountains in the west, across the Piedmont, to Chesapeake Bay, south of the Potomac River. / An important river in American history, the Rappahannock was the site of early settlements in the Virginia Colony, and, later, it was at the center of a major theatre of battle in the American Civil War. Due to its significance as an obstacle to north-south movements, it, in effect, functioned as the war’s eastern-theatre boundary, between the “North” (the Union) and the “South” (the Confederate States of America). / The river drains an area of 2,848 square miles (7405 km²), approximately 6% of Virginia. Much of the watershed is rural and forested, but it has experienced increased development in recent decades because of the southward expansion of the Washington, D.C. suburbs. Taken In Virginia, at the Rappahannock River …with a Canon Digital Rebel XSI….and a Canon EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 II USM.
