  • Went hiking/snowshoeing this weekend as the weather was actually good for the first time in a while and we decided to hit up Garibaldi Lake Provincial park which is just about 20 km south of where we live here in Whistler. All to say, it’s a 9km hike up to the lake which is located at 1400meters. Return trip and total hike is about 20 km and took us 7 hours but what a sight. The snow level was only starting at around 1100 meters and once at the top, we only had about 40cm of snow, great thing we had the snowshoes / This shot was taken at the exit of the lake at the top of the hike with the rivers flowing out towards the water. / My 3rd attempt @ HDR, still trying to figure out what works and what doesn’t with this kind of photos. / Canon XT, Sigma 17-35mm , 3 images used to create this

  • Filling up a glass of water and noticed this out of the kitchen window. Literally ran outside with a t-shirt and slippers on to get this before it went. First few shots were a golden amber in color then it went to this before it disappeared. Only snapped about 30 bracketed shots before it was gone. Gonna go a repot my orchid while this is uploading (and I finished it, thanks dial-up). Hope you like it. Please critique… print available here and on my website. • If the sight of the blue skies fills you with joy, / if a blade of grass springing up in the fields / has power to move you, / if the simple things of nature have a / message that you understand, / rejoice, for your soul is alive.

  • We never thought this day would come, / But it’s finally here at last, What once was our bright future, / Is now are dim-lit past, But we hold onto the memories, / The lessons that we learned, The pathways we have traveled down, / The corners that we turned, And soon we say our sad goodbyes, / That will last us forever, We may see each other again, / Maybe once or maybe never, So make your goodbyes ones to remember, / The kind that will stay in their heads, Those are the goodbyes they will treasure, / The ones that were sad to be said.

  • There will be times when you will be in / the field without a camera. And, you will see the most glorious sunset / or the most beautiful scene that you have ever witnessed. / Don’t be bitter because you can’t record it. / Sit down, drink it in, and enjoy it for what it is!

  • When I am an old horsewoman / I shall wear turquoise and diamonds, / And a straw hat that doesn’t suit me / And I shall spend my social security on / white wine and carrots, / And sit in my alleyway of my barn / And listen to my horses breathe. I will sneak out in the middle of a summer night / And ride the old bay gelding, / Across the moonstruck meadow / If my old bones will allow / And when people come to call, I will smile and nod / As I walk past the gardens to the barn / and show instead the flowers growing / inside stalls fresh-lined with straw. I will shovel and sweat and wear hay in my hair / as if it were a jewel / And I will be an embarrassment to all / Who will not yet have found the peace in being free / to have a horse as a best friend / A friend who waits at midnight hour / With muzzle and nicker and patient eyes / For the kind of woman I will be / When I am old.

  • Some days the sun consoles my fears / And lifts the wetness of my tears / Some nights the stars and moon embrace / The sorrow written on my face

  • A kind of surreal image of a stream in the winter with a few ps adjustments to give it that surreal look of an image in a dream. I love this stream but the picture itself did not look as good as it could have-I love all the tiny rivers and streams around where I live they always seem so enchanted!
