Hmmmm, I have had rather an eventful evening. My sister rang me from the restaurant where she had dinner this evening – just a ten minute walk away from me. She said she could hear kittens crying in bushes by the beer garden. so off I went, equipped with kitten food and a cat carrier. We sat just by the side of the bushes and I placed some food out onto dishes on a small lawn area. After about ten minutes – the first little pair of eyes appeared under the bushes, then another, then two more. Within minutes there were four little babies tucking into some supper [well squabbling over it would be more of a correct way of putting it]. They all ate their fill, and had a little look at the cat box close up, then just relaxed. I would say that they are about 6 – 7 weeks old – almost independant, but I was a little concerned about Mum and whether she has already abandoned these little ones. The bushes lead out on the other side onto a very busy road, so time is short. I decided to leave them there tonight in the hope of catching sight of Mum in the morning, but as I was going back to my car – I saw her going into the bushes from the road, so she is still with them. I have already been on the phone for an hour or two and found homes for these babes and Mum – now all I have to do is catch all five of them in the morning – gasp!

This is our sweet kitty, Hershey Kisses. I named her that because she loves to give kitty kisses and when I first found her she was the color of white chocolate. This photo was snapped on a whim, just as she was waking up from one of her many naps. —-—- Hershey has been entered into The Humane Society of the United States’ Spay Day USA Pet Photo Contest. Please vote for me! —-—- Ever since I was a child, animals have been my passion. My one real dream in life is to someday open my own animal sanctuary. As it is now, I only wish my home were as big as my heart. When I’m not caring for strays I’m working on designs for various animal rights issues. This photo is one example of something I have used on several products, including stamps, with the text “Save a life… adopt!” to promote pet adoption. Animals and their welfare are something I take very seriously; and in the past people have said it’s my religion. Did this quick piece for fun.. I miss my old friend, Brown, a stray cat. And sometimes, before i sleep, i’d imagine this image in mind.. And i’d fall asleep feeling him close to me once again. I first drew the chibi and the cat in flash.. then i did the rest of the painting in photoshop.. One of the many feral cats that live in an old factory building. Aishiteru! (i love you!) a mix of pen and pencil.. did this a while ago, with my lil friend in mind.. i have no idea where is he, whether he was really culled by those scums or if he survived and is somewhere.. i am pretty convinced tho that he was caught 5yrs ago.. and so now i just want to scream to the sky to tell him something i never told him before. Love you, Brown!! You’re the bestest cat in the world!! X) To everyone else, it is great to save life by adopting animals, but be it buying professionally bred animals or adopting those from the animal shelter, please please please think many many many times and consider all cost, time, energy and attention factor these cute lil animals require. They are living being like us, and being the one with the supposed higher intelligence, please think carefully before getting them ‘cause one should really take care of their pets all the way till the end. If truly truly necessary, please put your unwanted pets into the animal shelters instead of throwing them out in the streets. Thank you. /

A neighborhood stray cat that has been coming around lately. We love cats and have not been chasing him off…too much. He would make a great companion to someone, but we already have nine; seven of them were unwanted or, rescued and adopted by us. How this shot was done: Multiple masking layers in Corel PSP-XI used for brightness/contrast and slight saturations to bring out the color in the snout, the brightness of the eyes, but retain the detail of the dark nose.

My mother has been feeding some stray feral cats for a few years now and they come and go. Finally, there’s been a litter that we’ve been able to access and hopefully break the cycle of all these kittens. This one here is “Precious” which my daughter has named. We hope to find good homes for these babies so they may live a better life. Good News, Precious and one of her brothers found a loving home as did two others from this litter. :)

Mimi three days after we found her – I think she is about five weeks old. Someone had dumped her in our garden hedge whilst we had been away for the day. She was terrribly frightened, pitifully thin and badly needed worming and defleeing. Just can’t understand how anyone could abandon such a precious creature in this way! Hard to imagine now – she is three this year and has grown into a beautiful young lady full of mischief, fun and affection.
