More from the Lightscapes Set Poem: The Secret Place From: The Ice Cream Store. Toronto: Harper Collins Publishers, 1991. There’s a place I go, inside myself, / Where nobody else can be, / And none of my friends can tell it’s there— / Nobody knows but me. It’s hard to explain the way it feels, / Or even where I go. / It isn’t a place in time or space, / But once I’m there, I know. It’s tiny, it’s shiny, it can’t be seen, / But it’s big as the sky at night . . . / I try to explain and it hurts my brain, / But once I’m there, it’s right. There’s a place I know inside myself, / And it’s neither big nor small, / And whenever I go, it feels as though / I never left at all.

Inspired by ‘Television, the Drug of the Nation’ by The Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy In fact I’ll make it an open invitation for anyone to create an image based on a line from that song, tag it ‘cathoderaynipple’ it’s a fucking plethora of good hearty stuff. I actually wanted this to be a silhouette of dear Paris, but being as bland as she is, I couldn’t source an iconic image that would have served as a suitable starting point.

This is all that remains of a very old, rather long pier at Clifton Springs that sailing ships used to berth at 100+ years ago when bring passengers to the ‘healing waters’ of the natural springs in the area during that era.
THIS PHOTO WAS TAKEN RECENTLY NEAR TO A VILLAGE CALLED GARTHORPE IN NORTH LINCOLNSHIRE , WHERE I WAS BROUGHT UP AS A BOY . IT IS THE ROAD FOLLOWING THE RIVER TRENT CALLED SHORE ROAD , BUT AS CHILDREN WE RENAMED IT POPIES STRAIGHT BECAUSE A LAD CALLED ANDY POPE LIVED IN THE HALL JUST UP IN THE DISTANCE ON THE PHOTO . IT WAS HAUNTED AND NO ONE LIKED TO STAY LONG AT HIS HOUSE INCASE IT GOT DARK AND WE HAD TO CYCLE HOME . THE VIKINGS AND SAXONS USED THE RIVER CENTURIES BACK AND THE OCCASIONAL BURIAL GROUND WAS FOUND BY FARMERS PLOUGHING IN THE FIELDS . THEY WOULD’NT MENTION IT TO ANY ONE OUTSIDE THE AREA BUT WOULD RE BURY THE ODD SKULL , OBVIOUSLY AS YOUNG PEOPLE WE LISTENED TO LOCAL GOSSIP OF VIKINGS AND SAXONS APPEARING IN THE MIST . THE AREA WAS ALSO USED AS TRAINING GROUND FOR CANADIAN TROOPS IN PREPARATION FOR D DAY .

Emma looks right deep into your soul. The old beech tree with its crooked branches and the straight conifers make for a nice contrast on this picture, I find. And the misty atmosphere makes me look forward to the great days of October! For all you techys out there…this is a back to basics image…This portrait shot of Natasha is straight off the camera…no colour balance…no skin retouch..no tweeks at all…she even did her own make-up! I was pleased with this shot as I was trying a new lighting set up…using the camera remote. I will use the technique for a make-up shoot coming up. Looks Best Full Size As I walked toward these wonderful, rickety old sheds near the Triadelphia Reservoir in Montgomery County, Maryland, this lovely creature alighted on the fence post and very obligingly posed for me. I caught this shot right before he floated away. I liked the way the butterfly and posts came out in nice crisp detail with the sheds and overgrown shrubs in a blurry bokeh. ‘Join in black December’s sadness, lie in August’s welcome corn. / Stir the cup that’s ever filling with the blood of all that’s born. / But the May Day is the great day, sung along the old straight track. / And those who ancient lines did ley will heed this song that calls them back. / Pass the word and pass the lady and pass the plate to all who hunger. / And pass the wit of ancient wisdom, pass the Cup of Crimson Wonder.’ Jethro Tull – Cup of Wonder Featured on Red Bubble Homepage on 25 August 2009
